Your problem was never your taste, it was your attitude. You alienated people by being rude, intolerant of their tastes and generally unlikable. People responded in kind. You then proceeded to play the victim and claim that it was the other way round.

Make an apology, and don't say things like other people's opinions don't matter, and you would fit in fine here. I know it wasn't all your fault, and there was probably a few people who were just poking at you to get a reaction, but as online communities go, The Escapist is relatively troll free, and somebody has to make a first step, and why not be that person who does the right thing?

I don't enjoy most of what the Escapist likes, and the Escapist hates what I like with a passion.

There are plenty of people here who like what you like, you don't even have to look hard to find them. At the very least one person in each of your threads has agreed with you.

Edit: I realised after posting this some of the things I've said to you were probably combative in nature, and if so I apologise? And anyway, what games did you want to talk about? I love loads of the games on that list, although I'm not as much of a Japanophile as you clearly are. How about Nippon Ichi and how awesome they are and how they should bring the Disgaea games to any platform other than PS3 so that I can play them because they are awesome and amazing and ...... I'll stop now.

I rather doubt your going to find a community online that writes predominantly in English that even knows of Touhou's existence. Face it. It is a niche of anime dominated japan, which anime in and of itself in the English speaking world is a niche. Basically a niche of a niche. That might represent millions, but in a world of billions thats a little less impressive.

As for other aspects, you come off abrasive with your borderline militant feminism as well. That in and of itself may be a problem as well. Between yourself and Grey Day your at the forefront of addressing womens issues in threads. That isnt the problem. The problem is the frequency. Like it or not gaming is still dominated by boys and their toys. So coming in all preachy about womens issues and the evils of men in a community mostly populated by men, can you really be surprised when its not well received?


Look for all I just said, please dont misconstrue. I think you fit just fine in this community. Communities have very wide berths of people, interests, communal tolerances, etc I can respect that your smart and insightful individual. We as a community are better off with you than without you, and while your presence might help others who have similar views to you feel more comfortable here, your absence will only let someone who does have similar views to you also end up feeling alienated too. Honestly I think you should stay. We are better off and honestly I think you would be better off here than some other community centered around anonymity and memes or the like.

While they may not always agree with you, the merit of this community is that you find a much higher intellectual average. In finding ANY community that is the single hardest hurdle to overcome.

TL;DR: Just because we do not always agree does not mean we do not like you or do not respect your opinions.

So I would hope you would choose to stay. And I will wish you the best if you decide otherwise.

Fact is from what I have seen and heard most of the internet is full of fuck, there are the odd gems. Jump ship and you'll likely end up in shit, not saying the escapist is the best but better than a site of "shut up fag" and "COD iz teh bezt game evar!obligatory1".

There are a lot of diverse people on this site, some hate them games you love and the opposite is the also true.

As Tyler Durden said "You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else, and we are all part of the same compost pile." Do you think there is a magical place where everybody on there loves all the games you do and hates the same things you do? Do think that is a haven or a hell? The earth would be an awfully boring place if everybody agreed, same goes for the net.

Try and go and look back over your posts and see them from the perspective of someone that doesn't know you IRL--hopefully, you'll see why flame wars escalate so quickly from your posts. :/

I am a huge anime fan. However I am alone on my tastes it seems, I love the old animes. I tried to join a forum specifically for such and I got realy excited, however it was a closed community and I didnt pass muster....when they said it's just a formality. So that annoyed me.

Overall its hard to hang your hat somewhere else.

I had to send a message to the head guy, And follow the guidelines to outline why you would be a good candidate to join the forums. I did so. I decided to not act like it was a job interview or a CV. So I spent an hour or two on my thing. So considering all the things said "its just to make sure you like OLD anime". I know a tone despite being 23. I went into deep back story of development of old 60s 70s and 80s anime.

I am also dyslexic. What the guy was looking for was not a dyslexic person and the way I presented myself Light heatedly. Instead it turns out I should have treated it like a Job interview and IF I still got in. Be under constant threat I could be kicked out due to not keeping up muster.

The guy never told me, I had to contact another member and had to have every pass on from them. Instead of the guy replying to me and telling me no.

It was bad, I could have reapplied and tried better, however I was so offended by the elitism I didnt want to. They had some people smiler ages to me, however they were under constant threat of being kicked. They had been around for a year and they had only 7 member's. Which the guy stated he wanted more...except he apparently wants "Perfect" people.

So yeah annoys me.

I can tell you that Japanese culture is actually not that great (for example, they stagnate on soooooo many social issues that it's like Japan's stuck several decades, if not more, in the past. And you're a feminist! You should know this kind of stuff!

Indeed it isn't. It has just as many problems as the West. I'm not that big of a Japanese culture nut, myself. I just like their video games. Just because I'm a feminist doesn't mean I can't enjoy Japanese video games.

I'm not making a thread saying I hate this community. There's nothing in the OP like that. I made a thread mentioning my tastes, and asked for recommendations for another site better suited to them.

I'm not interested in going anywhere unless I have an adequate replacement.

In that post I was obviously saying, that though there are people who don't like My Little Pony, people shouldn't care what they think.

As in, there is no reason people should challenge or doubt their own taste in liking My Little Pony just because they don't like it or don't like people who do like it. Saying people should not care what people who don't like what they like think, is not aggressive.

People can dislike whatever they want. But nobody should care what they think.

Of course, you have a long history of aggressive posting towards me, yourself.
