I've never agreed more with an article in my life.

The Simpsons needs to stop. It's peak was seasons 3-5, and it slowly drops off after that. Ideally, a show should end at it's peak, but I could've forgiven it for a few seasons of slowly dropping quality before calling it quits.

I disagree on one point, however. Watching reruns of "The Critic", almost 15 years after I first saw it as a small child, I can see it's not half as funny as I remember. But man, did it ever have potential. It was the first to pioneer the "cutaway joke"; a concept that Seth MacFarlane would soon steal and eventually butcher.

Forget Simpsons. I want to know how, after Family Guy was rightly canceled for being terrible, they decided to bring that crap back on board. What, was one show that had long since stopped being funny not enough for you? You need TWO shows that aren't funny?

What the hell is wrong with you, Fox?

Titus.

This show, that so many seem to have missed, had three seasons of comedy excellence. It was evil, raw, honest and outright hilarious. It didn't pull any punches ("Of course Erin can get pretty angry. She's got that Irish temper. But, she's Northern Irish, so we don't fight, she just puts a bomb in my car.") and offended everybody ("You built me a cop magnet! I might as well be a black guy driving a large powdered doughnut!"). But damn it, it was hilarious while doing so.
Holy shit yeah Titus was awesome. People at FOX need to pay dearly for that one.

I have no idea what anyone's talking about.

I watched some recent episodes of the Simpsons. I laughed. I enjoyed myself. I look forward to watching it every week on hulu.

I really miss The Tick...thanks for reminding me. Futurama is back and I never cared for any of those other shows...how about Greg the Bunny!?
Aye, I had the misfortune of missing it when it was aired (they never did actually try and garner attention for it), but while randomly looking through Patrick's wiki article (after a stint of boredom and curiosity about Venture Bros), I discovered it.

Those were the greatest 8 things I've ever seen. Casting was brilliant, Patrick Warburton made the big man in blue every bit as optimistic, naive, and lovable as his cartoon counterpart was. And Batmanuel is perhaps my most favorite parody of Batman.

Maybe one day, someone will make a live-action movie with the same cast, and become the second movie to rub Fox's stubby little nose in its own shitty mismanagement and lost opportunities.
"A secret message from my teeth!"-The Tick, biting into his fortune cookie. An funny line delivered hilariously.

As much as I've seen articles like this, I like this one for at the very least putting forth "Here's what would've been better." And I liked all the things that you listed and absolutely agree (though I would've given The Simpsons til season 10). The problem with Fox's current mentality is that they seem to expect every show that debuts to immediately be as popular as the Simpsons, forgetting that it took several seasons for the Simpsons to really catch on.

Explain to me why everything good gets canceled, and the now-unfunny Simpsons marches on.

This ^ I freaking loved this show does anyone know if it's out on dvd?
Oh yeah. All three seasons. FOX needs to pay for canceling a show that got more HATE mail than other shows got mail.

I agreed with every cancellation except the Tick...that show was terrible. Are you high?

Seriously though, Television is stupid. I hope there comes a time when streaming internets of shows proves to be more lucrative and sustainable for shows and investors. then Television can just continue to be a pile of advertisement wrapped around drivel.

Futurama has been brought back, but is now airing on Comedy Central...

As for the Simpsons, it has one good episode every season after number 10, which is very, very poor. It should seek to make every episode enjoyable, rather than just put out a load of same-y blandness and the one good episode. I litreally cringe watching any new episode that airs now.

I've never watched any of the other shows you mentioned (except Futurama), but on the point of Family Guy which other people have brought up, that's gone down the toilet to. Apart from Road to the Multiverse, Brian & Stewie and a couple of others (plus the Star Wars spoofs) any recent episode is just boring. I think, like Matt Groening moved everything decent to Futurama, Seth McFalane moved every decent into American Dad! which is much funnier and deserves more credit than is given to it.

Back to the Simpsons, i think, due to Fox's terrible management, if they did cancel Simpsons, they'd have nothing to go on within a year, and would therefore crumble. It would be like Nintendo giving up on Zelda and Mario, or Sega giving up on Sonic. They're all due for retirement, but their creators litreally can't let them go.

If we want to get some new shows we would need to kill the big 3: Family Guy, The Simpsons, and South Park.

If Fox actually comes out and apologizes for axing a hilariously brilliant and original show like The Tick, I might sum up the strength to forgive them for ruining The Simpsons.

However, nothing will save ABC from my wrath for the two episode airing and subsequent cancellation of one the greatest shows of all time.

Seriously.

All six episodes of Clerks: The Animated Series MURDER pretty much everything The Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad have to offer.
I remember watching those on adult swim. Great show, shame it didn't get the chance it deserved.

Ok, let me say a few things, yes the writing dropped in quality for the simpsons but saying "The simpsons suck, ban nao plz!!!!1!!!" isn't going to make us take you seriously, secondly, WTH is that clip from the tick, That's NOT from the tick, now THIS is from the Tick.

I think the moral of this story is that one shouldn't watch shows on Fox, because you will inevitably be disappointed, whether its due to them canceling a show prematurely or letting one go on for too long. I liked the Simpsons, back in the day. Now it just feels forced and repetitive.
I miss Firefly. I know it wasn't for everyone, but I think it would have been absolutely amazing had they let it run. Or if someone had picked it up. Or if they would have just told us what was up with the Shepherd. It was a full universe, not just a single story line.
And just because...
Wash: " this landing is gonna get pretty interesting."
Mal: "Define interesting."
Wash: "Oh god oh god we're all gonna die?"
Mal: "This is the captain. We have a...little problem with our engine sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then...explode."

it used to be that you could watch individual episodes of the simpsons after the season had it's run and have a good laugh. right now I'm not sure if there area even individual gag that are worth watching. And Family guy is just so much funnier(if you are into that kind of humor)

Glee is meh, I never liked it the concept is high school musical, only in sitcom form. I have no problem with people who watch it, I have trouble with people who make it out to be the best show ever made (the people I refer to as Gleetards), It runs Family Guy and American Dad because as we all all know, animated "Slice of life" sitcoms are guaranteed to do well (They have yet to suffer from the ravages of age). House is good if a bit predictable, they guess disease, get it wrong, house shows up, calls everyone else idiots and cures patient, rinse and repeat (Don't get me wrong I love House). Secondly Bashing Fox for dropping series is kind of a moot point if you look at the wall of series they've run over the years if anything Fox is willing to let try out new things.

Titus was another show that got cut down despite being three seasons' worth of gold. Hell, it even got into some really dark territory like suicide, child abuse, rape, and homophobia that gave it some hefty moments that most shows don't.

Arrested = Good.

Futurama = airing on comedy central.

King of the hill? :(

Also, I'd like them to cancel anything related to family guy. And that includes those other copy pastas by that guy, but that'll never happen, you know what, hell, jst get that preachy ass hole out of TV in general. I can dream, can't I?
