Right now I just been looking for a job since I graduated from college in December, there is just nothing out there, unless I was a non-college grad that people didn't have to pay extra money to hire, or a person that doesn't just have a college degree but also has 3 to 5 years of solid experience. But, I am neither of those.

I've also been bummed out because I recently moved into a new apartment and I lost a notebook in the move and it had a great deal of information I had written for a fantasy novel series. It had all of what I had created of a new language for the series.

Now I wish I had gotten around to backing it all up on my computer.

I was referring to the video ads before, you know, a video, not banners. Never really said that, should have, probably... But whatever, front page changed so it makes more sense.

I read it now, because you shortened it. Thank you for that. And I never WAS trying to sell if off as fact, its easier to show loss to people when its almost a tall tale, if you try and explain how ads are a X percent of a penny per view [click, or video ads, like I was talking about, but never actually mention because I'm not exactly the best at prioritizing my words, exactly.] and then how that adds up to a Y revenue, then balancing Z costs and then you get X revenue for the ad. Its more complicated, and I myself am not someone suitable to exactly teach that to someone. Ever wonder why theater actors make every emotion big, because its easier to portray that way. If you think that exaggerations are bad, tell that to some theater actors, I can guarantee most may laugh, because its just easier to portray when something is mythical big.

I disagree heavily with the forced advertising we're getting these days. Since Youtube started, it seems everywhere with videos on the internet wants to do them.

One of the things the internet has always had is on demand service, and getting interupted every fucking video by the same fucking advert over and over again is a piss take. Why should I be made to watch the same 10-30 second clip between videos? If they were ALWAYS different, I could understand, but half the time I'm hearing the same shitty jingle designed by committee to get me attracted to a product, and the sheer obnoxious nature of them (Especially considering the Escapist has this strange thing of making videos popout occasionally so I can't use the rest of the page while watching the video, and get a large, brightly coloured border around my video that is very distracting from the video content) makes me want to buy the product LESS.

I can understand a few banner ads, I'm used to those. What I'm not used to is having content blocked for the sake of force feeding me some marketting nonsense I simply don't give a shit about. Seems strange that a news site that constantly publicises games would even need to add more game related adverts to get me to buy a game? That makes no fucking sense to me. I get it, the site needs money, but I just hate having videos interrupted constantly. And before you say it's like adverts on TV, no it's not because TV interrupts me once every fifteen minutes (so realistically every 12-13 minutes of show time), where as otherwise I'd be sitting through adverts every four or five minutes if I didn't adblock sites.

EDIT: An addition, my computer isn't exactly brilliant, and I have trouble loading websites that overuse moving adverts. There's an awful lot of flash in ads these days, and my computer can't properly handle several forum pages, a video page, a few articles and all my other tabs at once when every single one of them feels the need to fill it with animated, sound giving adverts. There was one REALLY annoying one that involved shooting a fly. Guess what it did? It made a buzzing noise, like an annoying fly. Luckily it doesn't seem to be here anymore...

Why? To be blunt, it can be quite crap here sometimes, I come here for the content and I want the best possible experience for me, hence why I got PubClub (HTML5 + Larger size is great) and having some weirdass add that not only doesn't even apply to where I live (Australia, yet I get ads for some british thing?) but also wastes limited bandwidth (We have bandwidth caps here) and can potentially be a security threat. (Ad company gets compromised, bam, anything using the ads now gets viruses)

This site isn't the one trying to sell you the game, it is the company that pays a small bit every time their ad is shown, that wants to sell you the game.

I don't understand how people are ignoring the common sense here. The Escapist and other internet sites don't have the money to just stay running all the time, they have to sell ad space. They get money from putting up the ad, a small bit every time it is shown, and a small bit if it is clicked.

You are taking your internet entertainment for granted, they don't make this stuff just to please you, they do it so they can make a living, or to supplement their incomes because the main job doesn't pay enough.

I find it very hypocritical, people whine and moan that they have to deal with or pay for a certain service and think they shouldn't have to help out or be a part or pay, but if they were in the same boat, they would expect to get their due compensation.
