I'm 15 and I've been playing pokemon since red up until black and everything between. I was really expecting and hoping for a ruby and sapphire remake as were a lot of my friends. I enjoyed black and white just not as much as the other pokemon games. I think that the charm in pokemon was the bad graphics and the seemingly off-pitch music. Now that the video game industry is evolving, nintendo didn't want their series to be left behind and decided to go with the trend. Along with moving on graphic wise the games themselves changed. I feel that the gameplay is completely different now. Since they introduced the wifi battling and such it has all been about EV training IV breeding and getting your pokemon to lvl 100. I miss pokemon gold and silver when all I wanted to do was beat the Elite Four and beat Red the trainer in Mt.Silver. When I beat them it would make me feel accomplished. Now that they added all of this other stuff I feel like beating the Elite Four is now only the first step of many. To get back on topic of these new games, it will either be a big hit or a bust for nintendo. As for myself I am hoping it will be a bust this way they don't do this again and stick with the regular pokemon trend. If it does happen to be a good game I wouldn't be angry but I feel like it could once again change the whole gameplay of pokemon. And as for the new legendaries..... it just looks like someone made reshiram and zekrom each make babies with a kyurem....doesn't look bad but it doesn't look good either.

Oh... it's inevitable, I'm sure of that.

I'm predicting it may even be the next big pokemon announcement after this one, perhaps after the ambition game is released.

Black Kyurem and White Kyurem?
Jesus Christ.
Will they be Fire/Ice and Electric/Ice, or Fire/Dragon and Electric/Dragon, or Ice/Dragon and Ice/Dragon?
I don't understand how the concept can work.

What is this, I don't even..
Tri-types introduced.

Calling it.

This is completely insane. I absolutely love it.

Unless it turns out to be an Emerald situation, which from this, I kind of doubt, I'm definitely getting it. It's Pokémon, I need no other reason.

And yes, that is the definition of a blind fanboy ;)
Be loud and be proud. Pokémon is the shit and always will be!

I count myself among the proud few who love ALL the gens. I have seperate good memories relating to each and every one of them.

And that is why I am a Pokémon Master.

Something that Soul Silver managed to do, sure it was a re-tread of a previous (and vastly superior) generation, but for me Soul Silver was the closest they've come to a flawless execution for Pokémon title.
Concurred. I think it had something to do with the fact that you had shit to actually do after beating the elite four. Gen 1's content was there for you to tread, even if it was a little watered down.

That was my biggest complaint about White/Black. There wasn't shit to do when I was done with the elite four.

That being said though... B/W was the most enjoyable non-silver related pokemon I've played.

I didn't like gen 3 and I didn't even play gen 4's games because of how bad gen 3's were.

I guess they thought Pokemon grey wouldn't sound as cool.

Anyway those legendaries look like two Pokemon fused together. maybe this game will add a fusion mechanic that'll let you merge two Pokemon together. Genius, or totally stupid? I don't know you decide.

how? how can nintendo get more lazy with the pokemon series? the pokemon have been pretty bad lately (anyone for icecream?), the actual overworld gameplay hasnt changed significantly since gameboy colour and the story remains fairly generic.

the answer to my question, too lazy to think of a new colour.

Interesting. A direct sequel? I'll have to keep track of this. I loved White, even if a few of the designs were... unorthodox. (I'm looking at you, Vanillice.)
[sub]I really should get around to finishing that game soon.[/sub]

Call me when I don't have to buy a DS for this. Embrace the age of iOS and get something on there Game Freak, I don't want keep missing out because Nintendo forgot how to design a desirable handheld.

Pretty disappointed by this announcement. I personally fell out with the Pokemon games around the time that Diamond and Pearl came out.

Take my opinion as you will, as I happen to be a lifelong Pokemon fan who loves all the generations, but I am extremely excited about this. Pokemon has changed and evolved greatly over the years, but in general, we've had a rough idea about what to expect for each game.

Now, though? We have no clue, and that is extremely exciting. For the first time in a long time, we don't know where the series is going to go, and the surprise and anticipation that Game Freak has managed to drum up with this announcement is a great thing in my book. I'm eagerly waiting to see where this goes. Will it be sequels to the surprisingly good story in Black and White? What new things will they bring to the table? And is it just me, or do those blue and red splashes of color next to the 2s in the logos look oddly like gemstones? Red and blue gemstones... RUBIES and SAPPHIRES, perhaps? Am I crazy, or does anyone else see this?

Also, I'm gonna go out and say that I like Vanilluxe!

I loved Black and White a lot, and I'm more than happy to see more.

Meanwhile in hell, polar bears have taken over the top four levels.

i think gray sounds better than tacking a 2 on the end

as for the ds and 3ds does this mean it will be a regular ds game or will they go the route they did with the original pokemon mystery dungeon games and make one 3ds and one normal ds?

(mystery dungeon had red rescue dungeon for gameboy advance and blue rescue team for ds)

Vanillite is one of my favourite Pokémon designs of all time, No idea why it's copping the hate for 'terrible character design'.

That said, despite getting SoulSilver and Black... I haven't really been able to get into a Pokémon game for a while now :(
I only trudged my way to the first Elite 4 on SoulSilver and I think I left myself grinding at the Celestial Tower on Black.

I find the whole situation strange, but we will see how it goes. It might be a good decision.

That.. was very unexpected. Color me intrigued. Black and White may have had the worst pokémon designs of the series (so far), but the story was better than those of the other Pokémon games and it seemed more.. streamlined than the other titles. I'll be cautiously looking forward to this. Unless they add another Stunfisk. Or another Patrat. Or.. I'm gonna need a pen.
I really don't get the bad design thing that people harp on Gen 5 for; I really think in that department it is on par with the amount of bad looking ones that each Gen has.

The whole harping on designs thing, and the outrage from people that were mad because they wouldn't be able to train their past favorites for their main story run through, got me to really look at the designs of the new Pokemon and test to see if how they work in look and in team groupings.

I did this by seeing how many teams of only Gen 5 Pokemon, I could train and feel good about them and their designs. To make it so that the test wouldn't take forever to complete, I put the stop level at 75, for when I would then move on and work on another team. So far I have three teams at level 75, and I'm working on a fourth, and I believe I could make at least one more. That's 5 teams, 30 different Pokemon that I actually like in look and how they work as a team.

My favorite part of Gen 5 though, has to be all the new and varied bugs that have been added. This is the first Gen that I actually feel confident that I could construct an all bug team that would actually work. My favorite has to be Volcarona, that thing is a powerful beast. Galvantula is a close second. In my study, I actually fielded them on the same team; they work great together.
