Yeah, maybe personally, but bible stands for what it stands. It is also false to think that all atheist hate religion, but what can you do.KoalaKid said:This is insensitive, even with your "a christian helped me make it" bit its obviously insulting. Also the idea that all Christian's disagree with evolution is false.
It is amusing right. They say stuff against us, but beware if you say anything back to them. I think the topic's title could been different, this might have caught the eye of the wrong people, in the wrong way.Rawne1980 said:That was an amusing read.
I love how easily offended some people on this forum get aswell.
It's like they have never been out in the world and get offended everytime someone says something slightly mocking in their general direction.
Get a grip people you make yourselves look foolish.
Oh come now, you're hardly the only group to have a stereotype. That said, the double standard on religious jokes as opposed to racist or sexist jokes is a tad uncomfortable, but there are some seriously messed up histories behind the latter two things. Christians haven't been oppressed since, what, the third century AD?viranimus said:So yeah, Another stab at theism, and specifically christianity. Why am I not surprised. So I am just wondering why is it that we have to refrain from attacks based on various criteria such as race, sex, orientation, etc, but seemingly attacks on theists, and specifically Christianity are basically encouraged, especially when you have Contributors who like to use their contributions as a platform to stab at religion.

Yes I understand why this offends people but why this particular thread? I have seen many and lurked many religious threads and its usually never this bad. the only thread that is ever worse than religious threads is circumcision threads *shudder*Erana said:Why does this rub many Escapists the wrong way?Von Strimmer said:Why is everyone being so hateful of this? I find it hilarious! Typical Christian bullshit of giving so much shit to people but not being able to take it themselves. Keep at it OP no one ever got ahead in life without treading on a few toes.
Also the amount of hate on this site for christianity why would you only get angry at this? I smell obvious point scoring.
Because the Escapist aims to create a specific environment in the community; overt hostility and insults are not welcome, and anyone wanting to post satire must tread lightly.
Its not like we don't realize this is meant to be a joke, its that an insensitive satire like this tends to beget people who actually take the subject seriously, on either side of the issue.
In this case, it has brought you here to post a sincere anti-Christian message which proves that the OP has failed to make it clear that this just a joke.
That being said, this pokemon "challenge" seems to exist only as a joke; other than some inconveniences like raising eggs and arbitrary type limits, this seems like just a no-evolution run. Perhaps a greater limit of pokemon types (Zubat, cloven-hoofed 'mons, etc) and poaching something from the nuzlocke rules?
Make that only legandary pokemon and we've got something.The_root_of_all_evil said:The Atheist Playthrough:

Truth hurts, donnit?Kimarous said:Speaking as a Christian (and a Protestant at that), this is in bad taste. Even if you do mean for it to be tongue-in-cheek, it still comes across as mean-spirited and trying to paint Christians as ignorant and closed-minded. The "avoid science labs at all possible" rule feels particularly insulting.
Look I can take a joke, and personally I am not offended, because this doesnt offend my sensibilities at all. But no the second modification does not really change much of anything. Its basically sort of like calling someone an asshole to their face and then saying "JUST KIDDING"Glass Joe the Champ said:I direct you to the factually accurate, politically sensitive, optional picture:
Are we all happy now?
Except its not wise to assume things. Much like coming to the defense of the Christians who are offended, does not even make me a Christan in the first place. So using language such as "your group" or "your beliefs" does a lot to invalidate your argument because your participating in the perpetuation of negative stereotypes.Bobbity said:Snipped
Sorry to nitpick, but that's always been a bit of a misnomer. It is not the survival of the fittest, but of those who are the most capable of adaption. Not at all a comment on your post, and I agree with you, but getting that right is an important part of understanding evolution as a whole.Avayu said:Treating pokemon well is overrated.
