FWIW, the only ones in pretty much the entire game industry who are actually innovating are independent developers right now.

I'll probably get one in Dec, or Jan 2014.
Maybe Black Friday of this year.

Then again...
Maybe I'll wait for the WiiU-Lite with a built in HDD.

I'm actually interested in the first question of his.

WHAT big reveal? I went through several pages in the thread here, and there isn't a single link or list, nor any stories on any other gaming sites, at all related to some "announcement" or "reveal," at least from what I can find.

I do wish that OP's had better skills when it came to their first post in a thread. There is never an excuse for leaving readers in the dark and vaguely referencing some noteworthy event.

Practically nothing on the system interests. Rayman, maybe. But not enough to to get me to buy a whole new console.

Oh, this was actually in reference to the last Nintendo Direct video, which I'm sure you can find in many places, but I can sum it up here.

-Monolith is making a new, and mind-blowingly good looking RPG on Wii U. http://youtu.be/oKy-oPdlEkY
-There's an HD Wind Waker in the making for Wii U. Pictures were shown, but no footage. This is to tide gamers over until the next big Zelda on Wii U, which is taking a while. (well, we did just get Skyward, so this is sort of our in-between for the major console releases)
-New Yoshi platformer made by the guys who did Kirby's Epic Yarn. It's more yarn-based graphics, though prettier now in HD on Wii U.
-The new Smash Bros, and a Wii U Mario Kart and major console Mario platformer will be shown at E3. I think they said all but Smash Bros will be playable at the show.
-Wii U is getting the Virtual Console -for serious- this time. Which means no more Wii emulation to do VC games, and you can play them on your gamepad. Also, restore points, like the 3DS VC.

Well shit

not a single game I'm interested in in any single small way

I think I'm going to pass consoles this generation and go PC (not saying consoles are bad, just need a change form paying to play online and have Ads, or goddamn exclusives to worry about)

No new Metroid? I'm not getting the console then. I hate Yoshio Sakamoto and Team Ninja for that sorry excuse for a game. Especially when Retro did such a wonderful job with Metroid Prime.

I think it's too early to decide weather it's worth it or not.
It seems to me that Nintendo is pushing hard old titles that have been out for years for the console as a main feature of the Wii U which doesn't really impress me.

Bring me the 1st party games and we'll see weather it's worth it or not.
Also, I really dislike the short battery life of the unit so maybe I'll wait for a better version to come out.

A proper new Metroid game would likely make me buy a WiiU as well. Bring back Retro, and have them make it in the same vein as the first Metroid Prime game, not like the third one. Stop trying to make it like Halo goddammit, that's not why we play Metroid in the first place!

Also, seeing what direction they are taking with the new Zelda and new 3D Mario would have a huge influence on my decision. I know third party support for the console will be scarce, but if they can come out with great versions of Metroid, Zelda and 3D Mario, in addition to Xenoblade and probably a new Donkey Kong somewhere down the line, that would be enough for me to invest in the console. Those games are definetly worth buying a new console for.

The pro controller lasts for several days straight on.

Lets see I see fifa on there, fifa will have the best play on the wiiU due to the pad, you know like those drawing boards they use for plans?
Bayonetta 2 will be on the wii U only.
The best version of ninja gaiden 3 will be on the wii U.
It has those shooters you love which are practically all the same, but more options for playing them.
It'll have a new dirt.
It will have lego grand theft auto covering that sand box feel.
Wii U is getting lots of platinum love, I notice two platinum games on your list there.
Wonderful 101 is platinum games, so is bayonetta 2 both exclusive.
The last mass effect game was already made, so I see no point in listing it despite it being on there.
It can obviously get batman and has done so since the NES days.'
Got any other things you like hmm?
Are we really going to do this? Sure why not.

Fifa - I see no real benefit in using a pad for plans.
Bayonetta 2...I know, that's what started this.
Ninja gaiden 3 is awful, no matter what console. 2 and sigma are the good ones.
Besides, I'm not interested in playing the same games again, just on a different console.
Not into lego games.
The next platinum game, metal gear revengance isn't wiiu exclusive, and in fact isn't planned to come out on the wiiu at all.
Just looked at the wonderful 101, yeah...not my thing.
I was listing games I liked to illustrate my tastes.

Ps3 and xbox share a lot of the games I like. I initially chose xbox over ps3 because of halo, gears and mass effect (which started out exclusive) and it was cheaper.

Later I switched to ps3, because I wanted to play DMC(4 and new), GoW (3and ascension), ssx, the last of us, and possibly starhawk and twisted metal.

If wiiu has alot of overlap with the major releases, as well as having more than one exclusive I really want to play and I'm looking for a new console then I'll definitely consider it (price included...). But that's a lot of tripping points at the moment. But if you're offering me a free one I won't say no either.
Did you look at the NG3 trailer? Nintendo themselves actually went over this with them to fix it for their version to the point it's pretty different.
And you already have a ps3 why mention what you are already got.
How is 101 not your thing, to "japensy" for you?
It's an action game it should be to your tastes.
So doing on the fly ingame plans isn't useful?
Not into lego games? They are practically the same as any other game, why not?
You also said you JUST looked at 101, yet you say the wii U doesn't have enough.
All you told me is you didn't look at all the games it has or will have. I shouldn't bother with you.
You have shown what is exactly wrong with this generation saying they aren't interested without even fully looking.
Like some person only looking at 3 flavors of girl scout cookies and saying you aren't interested when there are 100 more to look through. If you are going to make a claim and say you don't want x or want x. DON'T BE LAZY.
*CRUNCH* add another to the heap.

I won't be getting a Wii-U because...Well, to be honest, I don't really care all that much about Nintendo. I don't know. I've never played a Metroid, Zelda or Mario game all the way through before. You may now attach my limbs to four different horses and have them run in different directions.

I'm really just posting here because apparently every other person on the entire forum has, so I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon.

Wind Waker HD doesn't count. I'm not going to be pathetic enough to buy an over $300, outed technology console for an HD (seriously how do you make an HD version of this game? The graphics are cartoons for Christ sake) version of Zelda. If I wanted to play Wind Waker, I'll just play on my well kept Gamecube.
Screenshots are out by the way, you can check if you'd like

Bayonetta 2....why so exclusive?

Can't justify getting a whole console for one game (no matter how good it is).
Halo,Killzone,Gears and god of war why so exclusive?.

Linking Blunty and I haven't seen that guy in ages and that gets an insta fave from me.

Really I just wish the people who click no on this poll and then proceed to shit on the U would just go spend their time doing something a little more positive and more productive.

Then again I feel if it gets worse on here for Nintendo hate I'll just go shit on the PS4 and 720 threads because an eye for an eye makes everyone blind.
Resistance, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, why so exclusive?

I honestly have no idea why I'm back on thsi thread, probably because it's on the front page again and I thought I'd check to see if the shit-slinging match had calmed down a bit...

-checks the next few pages-

Nope! Still ongoing! Amazing, mine gets delivered in about an hour (I do love DPD).

None of those games interest me in the least. The only Nintendo exclusive I'm even remotely interested in is the next Smash Bros game, and after buying a Wii for Brawl, I'm certainly not buying the Wii U for Smash Bros. Nintendo still needs to prove to me that they can garner serious 3rd party support (from real gamer games, like Call of Duty and Street Fighter) and need to prove that their online service is worth using. Friend codes was an awful abomination and I sincerely hope whoever designed it is jobless and in agony in a ditch somewhere.

Hahahahahahahahahaha... Oh wait, you're actually serious? Allow me to laugh even harder! :D

Firstly, who the fuck are you to dictate who is a "real gamer". Games are games are games. Just because YOU don't play them, does not make them any less of a "game" to someone else. Get your head out of your arse, MetallicaRulez0..

Now, as for you, ResonanceSD. I haven't stopped laughing. I'm going to assume you think Microsoft or Sony are innovating? OH WAIT. Almost everything that comes from them is a cover-based shooter or a shooter in a guise of an RPG. EHRMERGERD SO INNOVATIVE.

When the Wii introduced motion controls, both Sony and Microsoft scrambled to catch up to them. Sure, Nintendo didn't have HD gaming until the Wii U (really their only setback), but y'know what, they didn't have to. Because graphics are NOT everything. Oh, and "same lineup of remakes, reboots, rehashes and resurrections", huh? Y... You've chosen to ignore the recent ONLY RESURRECTIONS of games for 360 and PS3, right? This console generation has been going on for *seven years*. It's the longest one by far. IPs are all drying up and developers/publishers are just milking them for all they're worth. Tomb Raider, a "new" Halo trilogy, more Mass Effect, more Gears of War, more sequels with 3 or 4 in the title. And by that, I do mean sequels. You can't use the Final Fantasy argument of "but there are FOURTEEN of them!".. They aren't sequels of each other. X-2, XII: Revenant Wings and XIII-2 are "true" sequels. In fact, XIII-2 is more of a spin-off as well, because it contradicts XIII and makes its own existing lore, which bleeds into LR:FFXIII. The other numbered games in that series are made by (quite often) entirely different teams of people. Hell, VIII and IX were being developed at the exact same time by completely different teams in Squaresoft. They're not one big giant studio, that's not how they work. You know that, right?

Anyway, whatever, I digressed. Fact is, you're pretending that Nintendo are the only ones not innovating. You're lying to yourself.

-----------------------------
MORE ON TOPIC: Yes. Yes I will be buying a Wii U, especially since the Nintendo Direct. My 3DS is already getting a ton of attention lately, my Xbox 360 250GB Slim has been almost entirely replaced by my recent PS3 500GB superslim. I couldn't give a shit about Microsoft's ONE first-party title (Gears of War: Judgment LOL) and literally no other new games apart from "sequels and reboots" that I can also get for PC or PS3, so... Yeah. Here, EBGames! You give me a brand new Wii U and you can have my limited edition Halo: Reach Xbox 360 console and six games I barely ever play on it anymore, I'll get PS3 versions of whatever isn't exclusive. :D (which, by the way, is 3 out of the 6. I haven't played Halo: Anniversary, Halo: Reach or Gears of War 3 in months. I can easily get Assassin's Creed 2, Brotherhood and Revelations on PS3~)

There was clearly many mechanics reminiscent of Xenoblade.. And.. There was also the giant red painted X at the end of the trailer, so... ;)

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - nope
Pikmin 3 - double nope
Wind Waker HD - buying a console for an HD re-release? Don't think so.
Xenoblade 2 - DAMMIT ALL!
SMT X Fire Emblem - I like SMT, I don't care about Fire Emblem. The crossover seems rather forced actually, like Tekken x Street Fighter.
Resident Evil Revelations - nope
Injustice Gods Among Us - Not an exclusive.
Rayman Legends - Again, not an exclusive.
Bayonetta 2 - making Bayonetta 2 before Okami 2? Fuck you.

Soooo, yeah. Just for Xenoblade 2? I'm gonna wait for now. My rule of thumb is: if the total sum of the costs of games you really, REALLY want isn't higher than the price tag for the console itself - don't do it (yet).
