I feel that this isn't over, not by a long shot.

The extremists will likely make Bin Laden into a martyr. How likely is it that you think we'll be under attack again? Are we guarded enough to prevent it?

There will more than likely be a retaliation. Not sure if we're guarded all that well.

...Your avatar is a little too fitting for this subject. I approve.

OT: Well, I'm sure this has been acknowledged and the right pre-cautions are being thought over and applied. I'm sure the same goes for us Limeys too. Though really, I doubt much has changed, so I also doubt there's anything more to worry about than there was before.
Edit: Of course they aren't going to accept this, but don't fret until there's reason to fret.

Like they needed the excuse.

It all depends on what you consider "Al Qaeda," I suppose. Their main branch doesn't really have the resources to do more than they're already doing, last I checked. To do anything outside Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, or the general area, all they have are foreign recruits. It's only the knowledge that I'm not yet an expert on the matter that keeps me from committing, but I don't think this would have much tangible effect on non-base recruitment.

I don't see it mattering. The US has been a massive target anyway, if anyone could do anything, they'd be doing it already.

Anyways, you don't need to go all the way to the US to kill US citizens, plenty of those in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the ones in uniform are valid targets.

Just to be safe, everyone should probably be on high alert on September 11 this year.

How true. Brilliant.

Most of the people killing and being killed by American troops in the middle east don't know or care about Bin Laden. There's no way to tell how this will effect the situation, but you can sure bet people will be running around freaking out about it.

true, but your forgetting that they tend to like targets that won't fight back, the citizens you mentioned would likely shoot first, ask questions later once they come under fire. not that i have a problem with that :p

I wonder what would be a likely target though? I can think of a few instances that made headlines that showed a severe oversight in security.

I think that since their charismatic leader is gone most of the weak willed guys will quit and the leaders still alive will be fighting each other for control. People dont believe me but they mistake these barbarians for a civilized army they are simply barbarians who lost their chieftain and now we will see how that plays out.

There are plenty of people in AlQaeda to take over from Bin Laden. It is a definite propaganda blow for their organisation, and in their home countries propaganda is extremely important, but I doubt it will change much of their military structure, a few second in commands will be promoted, but Osama was pretty sick and old, he probably didn't have much to do in the day to day running of the organisation.

I definitely think they'll try something, but at least everyone who could be targeted by such an attack has made it clear that they're aware of such a possibility.

What the hell does Israel have to do with Afghanistan, Pakistan, or Iraq?

I'm pretty sure all the penis touching during the process of entering the US will probably put them off... Just saying.

An ally in the middle east.

Also, Israel has alot of support amongst people who matter, they don't dare not be, for political reasons.

The biggest mistake the US Gov't could've made was to announce this the public...WHat should have been done is kept it quiet and make press releases saying that Bin Laden was currently talking peace negotiations with the US and wanted an end to the Jihad...this is what the Valkerie missions was intended to do in WWII when an attempt on Hitler's life was made and failed...But NO...America needed its "win" and now all that this has accomplished is to give the rest of Al Quesadilla a reason to rally against us even more. STUPID U.S. POLITICIANS!!!! Obama only cares about one thing, and its not the safety of the Amerikan people...its his agenda to get re-elected. FFFFFUUUUUUU!!!!

Weren't the Valkyrie missions planned and carried out by German soldiers? If so, that's not the same as President Obama making a statement that Bin Laden was killed.
