Am I the only one fed up with people freaking out over media... particularly games? (I'm assuming the answer is "no")
It just seems like people freak out why to easily. Like how people called Gran Torino "insensitive and racist" The movie was about a guy who was insensitive and racist but the movies message was the exact opposite.
Or how people are calling Valve racist for having minority zombies. (and don't even get me started on RE 5)

Then we get to the issue of sexual content. This is a little more reasonable because at least they have a legitimate complaint. ( I disagree with it but at least it sort of makes sense)
But i still think if people don't like that there are hookers in GTA or that you can have sex in Mass Effect then simply don't bring those games into your home.
I haven't heard any one complain about the sims...

EDIT: after my last post i realized "hey, i can just fix my OP" On the down side any one new to the topic may be a bit confused by some of your comments.

Fact: People fear things they do not understand. For the moment, this is video games.

People are VERY oversensitive when it comes to just about everything else though.

The human race (for the most part) fears change. then there are us, who embrace change. mostly.

video games are a part of that change in society.

I accidentally answered the OP's question of if he is the only one fed up with people freaking out. Subtract one from "No" and add half to "Yes" and half to "Sometimes". Thank you.

Did no-one else notice Grand Turismo? It's Gran Torino, just as a side note. I personally believe that people crying "Racism!" over black zombies (in an African and New Orleans setting) are racist themselves.. As far as I understand, Left 4 Dead 2's white to black zombie ratio seems to be pretty truthful. Are black people not allowed to be in games now?

You spelled sensitive wrong. That bothers me.
whoops, my bad. Spelling/punctuation has always been a week point of mine. I should probably start using a browser with spell check but... well I obviously haven't.

You meant their, right?

Ohhhh lulz.

OT: Yes, yes they are. Then again as gamers, of course we think people are being insensitive. I, personally, am completely desensitized to violence and whatnot, so maybe I'm a tad biased.

I see what you did there.

No, people are not over-sensitive. They're worried about whether or not the average American parent is smart enough to keep this sort of thing from their children, and evidence shows that they aren't. That is, unless there's a media outrage over it.

Media is a powerful weapon. See: WWI.
