Did no-one else notice Grand Turismo? It's Gran Torino...
Thanks for pointing that out, I thought he was ranting about the game.
I was trying to think how it was insensitive and racist, maybe because it features more Japanese cars than any other brands, and is insensitive to people have relatives that fought in World War 2 -
"You may think the Mitsubishi Evo X is cool, but I'll tell you one that wasn't, the Zero, you insensitive bastard!".
While I can mostly agree that the media seems to sensitive to some issues (which isn't true, if they were really that sensitive they wouldn't be making huge headlines about the offensive issues), I also think that a lot of people (mostly among gamers) aren't sensitive enough.
For example, all the casual racism, homophobia and the use of the word 'rape' prevalent in online gaming shows just how insensitive some people can be.
Sometimes when I read stories about the latest controversy, some of the replies from some gamers and people make me wonder if they're being deliberately obtuse and refusing to acknowledge how the issue might be offensive, or whether they're just totally incapable of empathy.
I suppose in the grand scheme of things it's finely balanced.
Yes there are lots of overly sensitive people who get upset over the (seemingly) littlest things, but on the other side of the fence there are enough soulless machines (who don't care how much people are hurt or offended as long as they can still play their games and watch the latest Saw/Hostel/murder porn instalment), for the universe to retain it's equilibrium.
