That dude's dead eh? Well, do I kill the others with ammo to spare, or run around in circles as I reload...

If I'm playing seriously, in an average match of CoD4, I'll pop out of cover to fire maybe 1-3 bursts with my M16, get back in cover, reload, then repeat. I can usually pull off a 30 kill streak easily doing just this with my current record being about 43. If I have to reload while running and gunning, I stop, find cover from where I was running from, then reload. You don't know if someone is beyond the next corner, so it's suicide to just run in reloading.

Every time I kill an enemy, if I get a split second I'll attempt a reload. I often get caught in the act and it costs my life.
This is exactly what happens to me. Though I'd rather be caught reloading then caught without any ammo in the mag.

I compulsively reload just because it's NOT a bad time to do so. Of all the things to kill my character, I don't want it to be gunfire.

If my clip isn't full and no one's around to shoot me in the face I will reload. To do otherwise would decrease my chances of survival and would thus be most illogical.

I reload a lot, but I know when I shouldn't.

High capacity weapons, such as LMGs or high-cap SMGs aren't reloaded often, and I reload whenever there's a quiet moment.

I reload when I'm behind cover, after clearing a room, before entering a room, and, when using a long range gun, after every kill. I used to do it after every kill, but I've gotten much better. That said,

28/30 bullets in my magazine? NOT ON MY WATCH

It's saved me more than it's killed me, honestly. 3 dudes with one clip, sometimes four. Not possible without reloading after every kill if no enemy is in sight. Also, a lot of times where i killed the guy with my last bullet. Like, if i had one bullet less in my magazine i'd be dead.
I often end up like this, and feel much more confident with a full magazine. So I guess it would be sometimes. (but on the high end)

Yes, a million times. I get very annoyed when I'm spectating and see someone doesn't have a full clip. An ex-friend of mine was really annoying as he wandered around with 3 odd bullets in the clip in CoD and then moaned he couldn't kill anyone.

I'm getting used to controlling my need for reloading now, although because TF2 is a different game from my previous FPS I'm going to have to go through the ugly phase again.

In Reach I reload when no one is around. Only because I know how to do such in that game.

I might as well just tape the relevant key/button down. So far it hasn't actually caused me too many problems, at times it's pulled me out of situations where reloading any later would've been fatal. But I don't expect that'll last much longer.

Also, I can't stand watching any of my relatives play anything because every single one of them is the type who avoids manual reloading. It drives me insane. Thankfully though, I'm slowly managing to educate my dad in the benefits of this particular compulsion.

I'm getting over it slowly. It's a habit I won't be stuck with forever, but it's still there at the moment.

It's better in TF2 where you can just click during a reload and it'll fire again. I have auto-reload on in that anyways so it's just eaasy.

Yup, except for games with ammo systems like Frontlines: Fuel of War, where you get clips instead of total bullets. In those kind of games I tend to fire in short bursts and tend to debate weather or not to reload or use the last 17 bullets of my 50 round clip.

Yeah,I always reload after a few shots knowing that I am "safe" with full magazine all of the time, because reloading in a bad moment can cost you your life.

I reload at every possible chance. I learned that from playing Doom 3, Fallout 3 and a couple of other games. I can't count how many times I've been killed because my gun clicked dry or I was caught in the middle of a reload sequence.

Played too much Counterstrike as a kid. Stopped reloading when in danger. Or walking around corners.

Don't be compulsive in Arma2.

It doesn't magically reallocate your ammo so the reload somehow puts in a full mag every time.

You shoot 10 of 30 rounds and reload. When you finally get back around to that magazine, it will have 20 rounds left. Really sucks, but I like the realism.

When sniping I must reload after each kill, especially in games with the HUD disabled, but when run and gunning I don't usualy unless I've stopped and noticed my clips less then 3\4 full.

Possibly the most frustrating thing for me is watching someone in a multiplayer game run off into battle with 2 shots left in their clip, fire, have to reload, die, and then say, "oh, no fair, I had to reload" as if it wasn't a fair kill or it was the games fault or something...grr.

Anyway, yeah, I do reload a lot but my timing is pretty good. I only occasiony get killed while I'm reloading.

apparently in real life if you reload, you just wasted all those bullets left in you magazine. i tend to reload right after firing about 4 bullets, so that's about 26 bullets wasted every time i reload. pretty sad.
