Usually when I'm playing a boring sandbox shooter (aka Halo, gears, CoD) I will just unplug my mic so I don't hear the 5 year old kids screaming in the mics. The only game I really feel obligated to plug my mic in is GRAW2 and Chromehounds, because they're the only games taht really require communication to win.

Given the smacktard infested multiplayer of most games, I'm definatly antisocial because I try to avoid people who are genuinely stupid enough to think I want to hear their irritating, repetetive voice conversations over their terrible quality headsets.

Yes I mute them, but then team coordination is somewhat hamperred by the fact I cannot hear my team. Also no one bothers attempting to coordinate teams and any attempt I make is either ignored or gets me called a n00b and teamkilled. if you call yourself l33t, you my friend need a life.

Definately a social gamer on xbox live. I just love to help people on it. :)
But it also depends if the people on the games are social... as in not insulting for no reason... *starts muttering about anti-social gamers*

I'm one of those gamers who have ran out of time and friends to play with. Scheduling play time is hard, and it feels like there aren't many good multiplayer games for small groups of people, either.

MMOs are particularly hopeless in this regard, which is funny seeing how many consider them "social" games. Suppose both my friend and I already had a character in WoW. It would still be either impossible or pointless to play together, depending on if the characters are on different servers, different factions, or just have a slight level difference - like 65 and 80.

Social, definitely, lol. Even in MMOs, though some people have started to think that to be impossible. Im always playing with a party of peoples, and in some games, I've even run my own Social Guild.

Completely anti-social. I only play multiplayer once in a blue moon and then only with individual players I'm already friendly with---no online matchmaking or MMORPGs for me.

It depends. Usually I'm into immersion, and love the feeling I get from playing a really good JRPG for hours on end. Occasionally, however, I'll have a couple of mates round and decide to see how many fusion coils and plasma batteries it takes to blow up a Scorpion on Halo, or how many KOs I can score over my friends in Brawl.

I was pretty anti-social on World of Warcraft, except for with my RL friends that played the game. Even then, I was usually off wanting to do my own thing.

I seem to be pretty anti-social - but I make a lot of friends playing on Live, so... I guess a mix of the two.

Anti-social, big time. I get a much richer experience out of games when its just the game aided by my own imagination. I can be competative sometimes, and play online, but I still dislike the interaction involved. Though mainly, besides the above, I stick largely to roleplaying games played by myself. When Im alone with the game, roleplaying to myself, if you were to suddenly place me in an MMO environment, I would have to start severing limbs with blunt instruments.

I'm anti-social on the whole.
I tend to play the game on my own, but I've recently discovered that online play can be pretty fun so :)

Both. When I'm playing a single player game I want to be immersed and everyone else to fuck off (I have been known to be that impolite). However it is fun to get a few friends round for multiplayer sessions. Usually beer fuelled.

Well, playing an MMO, I tend to interact with my Kin-mates quite frequently using Vent. Not always grouped with any of them, but usually chatting with a few when I'm online.

I'm both. I enjoy playing online with friends (but usually enter a X-Box Live Party with them because there are so many douche bags in-game), and I play a lot of multi-player games. At the same time, I enjoy solo games like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Bioshock, Fallout 3, etc.

I voted a mixture of the two. I'm more of a social gamer now in LOTRO (as I was in DAoC and WoW). I'll spend time with my kinmates (guildmates), help strangers when they're low on power or morale, etc.

There was a time when I was very anti-social in Ultima Online. It was a rush. I had a murderer, and the works. I'd often strip my mage of armor and items, except for enough reagants to cast two spells, then run them in town, target someone's pack mule with a delayed spell, then fire another insta-cast one to kill them in two hits before the guards killed me. It was the sweetest bit of anti-social behavior I experienced. I did the same with low-levels on my murderer who wondered a little too far out of town. I was a ganker before the term "ganker" was even created and used.

But now that I've matured, I find much more enjoyment, satisfaction, and ethical comfort in helping others in any game.

Social in as much as pretty much all the games I have played over the last few years have been MMO's. Having said that I do like to sometimes play an MMO on my own without talking to others - but I'm trying Mass Effect at the moment and finding the total lack of player interaction strange to say the least so I guess I lean more towards social.
