I'll be honest, I am a nerd. But by no means am I a stereotypical one.

I define a stereotypical nerd as the one who's overweight, short, sits at the computer all day, and has little or no friends (exluding online friends).

I'm skinny, fairly muscular, tall, like to spend time outside, and have a fair number of friends.

Note: Please tell me if I spelled stereotypical right. If not I'll fix it.

Nein. There can be different definitions. For example, skinny instead of fat. Height... I dunno. Computer: not necessarily, because there's also DVD, D&D, books, etc. Also, you can consider other nerds friends.

I'm neither fat nor skinny, I do hang out with other people, and I haven't watched all Star Wars movies.

That said, I do wear glasses (with lenses far out), I do have OCD, I do like math, I do spend a lotta time on my PC, and I do have an obsession over what steps I take on the floor tiles at the mall.

And I do read xkcd.

Also, first post! Whee....

Stereotypical in some ways, not in others. The stereotype is broad and weak. I don't know any coding language, I don't do much more on my computer than surf, but I know my way around firewalls, networks, and programs. I learn quickly, so I adapt to new programs fairly quickly, I'm a sucker for games and nerd humor, and I understand a lot more about computers than most. Yet, I'm thin, tall, pretty athletic, semi-muscular, and I enjoy running and swimming just as much as FEAR Combat and PSU.

And I have nerdy hair and glasses.

So, non-stereotypical yet still stereotypical nerd.

I'm fat, I have no life, few friends, an online girlfriend, I wear glasses, play videogames every single day, spend hours a week watching people complain about movies and video games, I have no job, I have 16 Dungeons and Dragons books IN my bed, and a sephiroth "action figure" sitting on my television.

yeah.

I'm a nerd.

nope, and we've been talking to eachother for 3 years :)

I'm bringing it all out for you guys. I never talk about this stuff

I HAVE had a real girlfriend, just a little disclosure, and we dated for about 3 years, but she was the worst human being on the face of the earth. You think abyss's girlfriend was so bad that he had to make 3 threads about her, I could beat him any day in the week in the "bad girlfriend" contest. I've also had another online girlfriend that I did visit several times.

Well, I play shittons of video games, am involved in an active GURPS campaign, get good grades in school, design freeware games in my spare time, have no girlfriend, have a large map of the Province of Cyrodiil on my wall, have a framed certificate that I won in a Pokemon battle contest, suck at every sport except for ultimate frisbee...

... but I have lots of friends, have an active job that keeps me in great shape, do not wear glasses or have acne, like to leave my house (every so often), have a pretty decent tan going on...

So no, I'm not a stereotypical nerd. The thing about stereotypes is that they can never fully define a person.

No, I'm more of a stereotypical metalhead...
Tall, average build, pale-ish, plays a guitar, shoulder length black hair, I spend most of my time on the internet trying to find and learn song tabs and I listen to metal...

Actually I prefer classic rock. Does that make me a classic-rockhead?

ok there are 3 main types here, nerd geek and dork

nerd: exceptionally good one one specific skill, and is usually obsessive. does not have social skills outside their race

geek: an all around good at complicated things, but not as good as a nerd at their subject. has acceptable social skills with people outside their race

dork: a nerd without skills. nerds and geeks look down on them

note - people who watch football obsessively are nerds in their respective field. these rules are slightly bendable to label

Ok, it's quitre obvious that I exhibit some of the stereotypical attributes of your 'typical' nerd. I'm on a forum! Plus, I'm pale, I hate the outdoors, I play DnD, various video games, read ALOT, love Doctor Who and spend alot of time on my beloved laptop.

But! I have a real genuine boyfriend (we met at a Doctor Who Marathon though o_O), Im tall, of average weight, have many friends outside of the interwebz, own no action figures and dont read comics.

I game (while I'm not in school), I do really well in school, and I prefer isolation over socialization most of the time...I wouldn't classify myself as a nerd...but I wouldn't go the other extreme and say "popular" either.
