Ah, well played. I actually am well aware of what you're saying, but I was just talking about D&D, Pen&Paper and running around in the woods fighting with swords, etc., the obvious sorts of roleplaying (and the idea most people have connected with that word), nothing as deep as your post. :p
Of course you are, but when I see a chance to be philosophically and intellectually snippy and witty, I just have to take it. It's a vice I have. : )

Still, would be nice if "normal people" could have roleplaying brought to their attention once in a while. It might just make some of them a bit less judgemental towards people who indulge in pen and paper RPG's, and quite possibly stopping them from being so godawful serious about the roles they play themselves in their every day life.

Life is boring for everyone if you take living too seriously, or just simply playing one role over and over and never trying out "the other side" of the play.

But now im just being ridiculously idealistic, and it really doesn't suit me at all. So I'll reprimand myself for ever entertaining the notion of people actually stopping and thinking about whatever they believe or do is really such a good idea... I mean we're talking about the species that kill eachother over which particular invisible man in the sky they believe in. Not much hope in them ever changing their ways now is it? : )

I'm an athlete. I'd rather be doing martial arts (specifically boxing and muay thai) training than anything. I'd rather be at my club training on a Friday night than at some party. However, I have pretty much no social life outside of training. Not only have I been single for a long ass time, but I've rarely gotten the opportunity to hang out with friends.

It's all good man, I tend to do that alot myself, or used to anyway, the responses I get aren't very good though, it's like people have grown so stupid so if you get just a bit existential on them, it means you're either depressed or just flat out crazy. That's the responses I get anyway, pretty much for the same reasons you bring up, so I end up saving my thoughts for.. well, just me. :p

But while I do agree on people being too serious about themselves, they've also grown alot dumber, not just in the way we all interact with each other but just general way of thinking. No one wants to really look at themself, it's easier to, say, make fun of roleplayers. Easy seems to be the big thing with us humans really, there's no such thing as self-development anymore, just to mention a really important example. Most the people I know are completely stuck in the role they think suits them, never moving on just a little bit in life. And me and my friends are still so young, that personal changes should be a completely natural thing, I mean, I am a complete opposite of the person they met years ago, but they have somehow chosen not to do that, which seems to be the more 'normal' thing to do these days. :/ I have lost hope of doing anything about it, lost my patience, whichever one you like. It have caused me to care that much less about those people, it's just tiring and sad, having the exact same conversation everytime you see each other, because they don't like to think anywhere beyond whatever track, it is they're stuck on. Last line of your post is brilliant btw, sums it up perfectly, actually. :) I'm nowhere near as good as you when it comes to giving out my thoughts, I usually have my 'serious' moments in danish. :)

I'm a skinny dude, but physically fit (well, fit enough, I smoke so there's only so far fit can stretch). Aside from that, I don't really fit the stereotype. I have a girlfriend, many other friends, I go out quite a bit. Though I do play lots of videogames, watch obscene amounts of movies (I'm a film student) and tv, and I read shit-tons of comic books.
