Poll: Are you getting skyrim?

I'm not entirely sure, honestly. I have the good fortune of having a birthday the week prior to Skyrim coming out, so if I can't think of anything else I particularly want I might just tell my family that it's all I want and get it. But if I have to pay for it myself I'll probably wait. I don't have enough faith in it pre-reviews to make a decision where I'd have to use my own money. My biggest worry is that with the immense focus they've put on revamping the combat system that the Thieves Guild missions?always the main reason that I played, I felt they were the most challenging part of the game?may have suffered. If that's the case than I'll probably not get the game at all.

I was the opposite. Sneered at the ugly screenshots of Oblivion from day one (seriously, what is so impressive about butt-ugly orcs and guys in armour?) and wound up buying it on the cheap years later. Absolutely loved the world-design and beauty plus the ability to go everywhere right from the start, on foot. (Even if that meant I spent a lot of time running from creatures stronger than me).

The only down-sides for me were the lifeless towns/cities (beautiful, but so horribly sterile. More people, more shops, more NPC-NPC interaction needed!) and 2-3 voice actors. Oh and those damned gates. I got so sick of the bloody things.

(Oh, and yes, I have it pre-ordered. On the day I think I'll change down from the special edition to the normal, though. There's nothing in the spec box worth having.)

There is not enough changes in this new game for me to get it. So far all of these sequals I'm happy I didn't pay 60 bucks. Dead Rising 2, Mass Effect 2, Fallout: New vages, and Dead Space 2. Now they aren't bad games. But 60 dollars is just too much for what I was getting out of it.

Skyrim is the same deal. I bet the game will be fun, engaging, and take up a ton of my time but I proabably won't pay more then 30 bucks for it. Then you add on the fact that there will be DLC they you will also have to buy if I get it for 30 then buy all the dlc it'll proabably add up to 60 in the end anyway.

I respect you decision, whatever personally I'm going to love this game, but I think that your logic is flawed. You say that there aren't enough changes but if they changed the game any more with this sequel, in good or bad ways, well... Well it wouldn't be an Elder Scrolls game that's for sure, it'd be along the lines of Far Cry 2 being considered a legitimate story driven sequel to the first Far Cry. You can do whatever you want, just don't base your actions on silly notions.

I had preordered this game in May, and when the option to preorder the Collector's edition came up in August, I switched.

I have been a huge fan of the series since Morrowind. Bethesda cannot have my money soon enough.

Sure I am. Not right away though. For one I have a back log of at least, 10 games to play. Two, I'm poor and cannot afford to spend ?45 on a new game. Three, buy the time I do buy it there will be patches and DLC galore!

I never understood this whole "omg-there's-a-brand-new-game-and-i-need-to-play-it-now" hype. Also : dem bugs'n'patches.

I can really side with the first poster, on oblivion. I hated how it did hand to hand, so many medieval weapons were absent (give me a fucking spear!), it had the lets just swing wildly combat thing going, which would take you way off balance and looked ridiculous. And the five voice actors really hurt my immersion.

Skyrim though, I am hopeful. I will get it, play it hard and see what the game is worth.

Yes, but not right away. I'll wait for the GOTY edition, which both Oblivion and Fallout have taught me. I'm pretty sure the game's going to be buggy as hell when it's released in typical Bethesda fashion, so I'll wait for the game to be ironed out a bit untill I buy it at a low price.

I'm planning to preorder but I'm hoping that they will release a demo before the release date so that I can confirm its greatness.

I've learned with Oblivion to not buy Bethesda games at launch. Served me well with Fallout 3 and I expect the same with Skyrim.

Give the community time to fix the bugs and/or broken mechanics. And to see if the game is, well, stable and not crash-happy.

This. And the fact I can't really afford it at this time.

I will wait to see if it's good. Then I will wait until it's 8 dollars or whatever oblivion is now on steam.

I'm not particularly interested honestly. I struggled with Morrowind, which is not to say it was a bad game but just that it wasn't my cup of tea.

I hope it's good but it's not a day 1 purchase for me.

I will, but I don't know when. I'm not dying over this game like most... Oblivion was a big disappointment for me..... so I can't help but not care very much.

I guess I'll wait and see how I feel during the release date.. I've been feeling a massive itch to revisit Dragon Age: Origins... AGAIN... and I think that would totally be worth it.

But we'll see....

Yes, I am getting Skyrim. Somebody try and stop me! I loved Oblivion (and Fallout 3 for that matter), so getting Skyrim is a logical next step.
