Not really, im bisexual. I really really dislike stereotypical gay guys tho, but not because of their sexuality.

I kinda have a problem with them,(I'm catholic) and most people in my country have a grudge against them(sort of), but I don't care about they are doing, as long as they're not all in my face about it I'm tolerant.

I love how the word "Homophobia" is stupid. Just because people dont like them it doesnt mean that they have a irrational fear of homosexuals.

I honestly couldnt care less, if they respect my preferences and dont get in my face then I return the favour. Although I think that what they are doing is disgusting, im not against it nor feel any ill will towards them.

No. I have quite a few homosexual friends (girls and guys), and I've never understood why people are homophobic.
That is, I've heard some explanations, and while some of them might make sense, I still don't see why they act the way they do.

I have nothing against either, just please boys, keep it to yourself. I remember this thread where the OP said a gay couple started making out during a movie. Please, keep it to yourself.
As far as I'm concerned, hetero or homo, keep it between yourselves. I don't need and don't want to know what you get up to, cause it makes me feel squicky no matter who it is.

I'm suprised there isn't an option for those physically disgusted by the act but morally unopposed. From what I hear a good deal of non-religious homophobia comes from that.

"Early man" came way before the Bible.

OT: Not at all.

And no, there's no "but..." which most people apparently feel the need for. The difference between me and a gay guy is about the difference between me and a guy who likes blondes when I prefer brunettes.
The bits of the Bible I'm referring to (mostly the Torah, but a handful of other Old Testament books) have existed, in one form or another, since the Old Kingdom of Egypt. All the laws and shit in those scriptures are almost universally a guide to healthy living without all the fancy technology we have today. They've existed in some form since shortly after the dawn of civilization, and they're all basically just a collection of wisdom gained through cultural experience.

What that means is that we've had an anti-gay mindset for as long as there's been recorded history (and probably longer). That doesn't mean we can't change, just that it's a very large part of the reason homosexuality has received so many negative reactions.
I guess, but I'm pretty sure that there's hardly any evidence of attitudes for or against homosexuality in Ancient Egypt, and if you take Ancient Greece then it's thought that homosexual relationships weren't ever considered an issue at the time.

I believe that a few ancient double-dildos have been found too. If anything, sexuality seems to be more of an issue now then it was 1000s of years ago.

By what act?

Anal, or just the thought of 2 men? It's not like fat people live in fear of persecution all their lives because people find it unappealing to see them have sex.

I do try to not be homophobic as I have gay and lesbian family members, but every now and then I react a little negatively to them, it's not intentional, i guess it's my middle class Irish-Catholic upbringing rearing it's head

I am slightly put off by the whole thing, but I came to realise that it's my problem and no one else's a long time ago. I don't regularly associate with gay people, but I don't go out of my way to avoid them either. One of my very best friends is bi.

Micheal: Yep, we are a couple been going out for quite some time now when I think about it (its fine most people are curious if we are going out or not when they meet us in person). Though a friend of ours still thinks that this is some big prank where playing on him so that it will somehow make him look stupid (though he does that pretty well by himself).

Robbert: Yeah we are :) Id say more but Micheal has said everything that could be said (even told a story most people won't even care about so there's no way I can top that).
Cool!

Just for the record I'm pretty much the same way as your friend, not in the sense that I'd think you two going out as a prank, but if I don't believe something I'd likely be suspecious and think its some kind of prank. (and also that I often make a fool of myself, xD)

Not at all. And not really bothered by the idea of two men having sex, or seeing them kiss. Not bothered by ugly people kissing in public either really. Its probably due to spending too much time on the internet, but for a public display of affection to bother me it would most likely need to involve farm animals or the severing of limbs. Even then at least I'd have an interesting story to tell about the crazy shit I saw that day.

From the Oxford Dictionary:

"an extreme and irrational aversion to homosexuality and homosexual people".

The obvious reason is religion, but even that is bullshit because even though it says somewhere in the bible that homosexuality is wrong, I'm pretty sure it says the opposite too. Another reason would be that a person is insecure about his or her own sexuality, and acts homophobic to distance him or herself from homosexuality.

Pfffh :x guy has a point ... nobody here can claim never to have judged on the bass of looks and dress.

Afterall, when you first meet someone that's all the information you get.
