I feel the same way about it that I felt about JFK: Reloaded. It's just a game. Granted this Osama game will probably be a shitty flash game if it's been thrown out in a week.

Yes they have every right to do it. It's now a historical event. We make games about WWII don't we? How would this be different?
Because we were making video games about WWII a week after it ended, right? No.

OT: Sounds interesting. Though it is probably going to just be a rushed game that isn't worth picking up.
Yeah, it's going to be bad in every way imaginable I'm sure. I certainly won't buy it at least.

Firstly, I believe it's going to be unbelievably shitty, knocking a game out in about 2 days doesn't scream 'A+ quality' to me.

Secondly, it's just mindless bandwagon jumping and profiteering, like a movie licence for Fox News devotees.

Thirdly, what's going to happen when people realise you can lose in the game, and the game lets Bin Laden and his allies kill Americans? Surely it's going to be '6 Days of Fallujah' all over again.

Except 6 Days of Fallujah I actually believe showed some level of respect to the troops involved.

Sure, make a comedy flash game, where you capture Bin Laden, jam a grenade in his mouth, cut his head off with one of their own beheading swords, then kick it into a mosque for bonus points, if you just want to be tasteless and headline grabbing, but please don't waste good discs making this a real retail release.

I think what most of us here would be most offended about is that there's another 'quick buck' shitty cash in game coming, we'll be just as offended about the next Shrek game, I expect.

Meanwhile 6 Days In Fallujah will never be released.
You make a very good point I think its a big shame that got cancelled seeing as if it was well done it could have actually helped legitimatise gaming as a medium that is fit for exploring more mature real life situations in a respectful way.

What the fuck is wrong with people these days? Seriously... that it just disgusting.
I understand the guy was a terrorist and a despot, but at least have some respect for the dead.
Hitler was an arsehole sure, but he was an intelligent guy and had some good ideas too, despite being one of the worst dictators in history.

Well, thats just bad taste. Right after he died even, I mean thats awOF COURSE ITS FINE ITS OSAMA BIN LADDEN!
Note: I am American.

Here's how we act when a tragedy/achievement occurs.

1) Shock and awe.
2) Marketing.
3) Mass Buying.
4) Calming.
5) Realizing how much we spent on tat.

9/11 = Shock, sadness, televised donations.....coffee table books, hunks of rubble on Ebay, shirts, coins, plates, posters, magnets, hats, flags, bigger flags, biggerer flags, statues, pins.......anger at WTC not being rebuilt followed by understanding of government ineptitude.......selling most of the 9/11 stuff on Ebay.

USAMA death = Joy, Happiness, finally being able to spell his name properly again because his first name had "USA" in it and we're children (freedom fries, liberty cabbage)....video games, posters, books, movies, television interviews, shirts, pins, magnets, coffee mugs, flags, bigger flags, biggerer flags, coins, posters.....realizing that terrorism isn't dead....realizing how many rights were taken for 'false security' due to him.......selling all the junk on Ebay.

why do i get the feeling that despite the obvious shit this is going to be it will sell well enough to turn a nice profit?

oh and regarding the holocaust simulator: that actually might make for good game if done well, although no studio with the experience and resources to do it well will touch this.

Only if, and ONLY IF, you have to defeat him once, and then he runs away and you have to defeating him AGAIN in a Quad-minigun-armed mecha suit.

It's only fair.

It's not wrong, but it's disrespectful. Not to Osama, no, but to the American people. Remember all those songs about being patriotic taking advantage of the American music market after 9/11? This seems like a similar idea- abuse the national furor to sell games to people who want to feel like big damn heroes and kill Osama. It'll likely be a crap game, but they assume people will buy it anyway.

No, just no. And I'm about as probama antisama as you can get.

Helicoptering in and shooting unarmed people in the face is, however justified it may be, not suitable or appropriate content for a game.

And it should be at least as large as collosi.

If you're not going to respect the dead can you at least ignore them?

This just seems fucking awful to me.
Why respect those in death that could not be respected in life?
