We all know and love Bioshock and as for me it has been one of my favroute FPS games up to date and not a lot can beat it in my eyes. Now, with the "Recent" realise of Bioshock 2 I have to say I was disipointed, if anything disipointed is a understatement. Yes the game was fun and I did like the new element of duel welding a plasmid and a weapon. There is nothing better than setting a Splicer in fire and then giving him a good drilling. *Cough*

But lets face it. The worst part in the first Bioshock was when you had to wonder around and play dress up to become a big Daddy. Looking after the little sisters was a pain while being atacked from left, right and centre. So why did 2K say "Hey lets make you play as a big daddy in the 2nd game!?" To be blut "Bad idea in my eyes."

It makes me wonder. If 2K decide to make a 3rd game whats going to happen? You going to play as a little sister? o_O

well if they do make another one they have to make a prequal. I haven't played BS2 but from what I've seen, its not going to last another 10 years.

(sarcasm)and NO you're NOT playing as a little sister DUH, ...you're playing as a splicer. (/sarcasm)

I think a prequel could be done really well. You could have a really nice build up to it as well, like a cross between the first game and Half-Life.
But then I didn't want Bioshock 2 to be made so I found myself voting No again.

Not if they just make it for the sake of making another game. The follow up to the first game didn't retain that atmosphere and feeling of the first one too well, because you've seen it. I agree that a prequel would be a great idea, as Rapture was once a well functioning potential utopia.

Starting a prequel in the middle of the Ryan versus Fontaine rivalry and having it end in the fall of Rapture would be awesome.

No, you're playing as one of the gun turrets.

Which is now sentient and able to move because of ADAM.

On topic: Seeing as how Bioshock was entertaining, and I do want to give Bioshock 2 a try (I'm really interested to see what Lamb's Rapture is like), if they do it well... why not a third one? The series is never going to be great, in my opinion, but low expectations means I'll be won over with anything good from it.

Yes, but they should try to create more areas of Rapture and introduce new characters, but build upon what they have already established. One of the main thorns in Bioshock 2's side was the lack of continuity from the first game.

No. while Bioshock 2 was good, it wasn't as good as the first.
And besides, by the end of the second game,
pretty much all of Rapture has been blown up and wiped off of the ocean floor.

Actually...
It was only that last area you were in that was destroyed and fell into the trenches.

Bioshock suffers from te fact that the premise and setting far outweigh the game itself. Bioshock 2 suffers from not being as good as the first and some stupid ideas and the setting being far better than the game.

I would say that no, there shouldn't be another Bioshock game as I felt that the 2nd only devalued the first and I do not see another game doing anything different.

Playing as a little sister is intriguing. It could play out more as a streatgy game where you have to manage your big daddy. You would fight indirectly. I think you're on to something. trademark this idea quick and sell it 2K games.

Oh yeah.
Still if they do continue top make games
Rapture will be pretty much destroyed inside and out with the combination of what Jack and Project Delta have done so far.

I'd like to maybe see a game where you play as a Big Sister, if only for the gameplay.

Yes, most definitely. But only when it's a prequel. I really really really want to see Rapture in all it's art deco glory and slowly see it crumble because of Atlas' gang and the following civil war.

A new BioShock game should revolve around those 2 things; the rise of Atlas and the civil war. I also propose a couple of gameplay changes:
- Give us back the free-roaming we had in BioShock 1, only now with an actual reason to go back to the previous areas.
- That reason would be a more open system. As you now work for Atlas' guerilla gang, you do missions for them. As Atlas rises, Rapture slowly degenerates, areas change and new missions unlock in every area.
- This also means that Rapture would be more alive than ever. Regular folks walking around, going around their daily business; the city would be truly alive. Of course, as the game progresses, things get worse; more and more people splice up, random splicer attacks, robberies, all that sort of thing.
- Missions should be doable any way you like; stealthy, explosions, just lots of guns, etc, but that choice should be made purely on personal preference.
- No more Little Sisters as morality choice, missions should have some.
- No more Little Sister farming for Adam. I'm cool with Adam, afterall you still need to splice up, (and thus you see not only Rapture go to hell, but yourself as well) but let it be a reward from those missions.
- Give us back the tinkering system from the first game, but now add some Fallout 3-ish plans for new tools and weapons. Give us more reasons to use certain weapons for certain situations.
- Your character should be a disgruntled worker-class guy (or girl I don't care) who came to Rapture with high hopes, only to have them shattered. He sees new hope in Atlas and joins up with his gang. Lots of characters we know from audiotapes could be woven in, think the police commissionaire, Diane McClintock (or something like that, Ryan's former mistress), all those people affiliated with Atlas. At one point you'll find out who Atlas really is and what his plans are and the choices you made in the game would decide if you would share the fate of McClintock or escape. Of course you won't be able to stop him outright, retcon's are meeh.

That's pretty much it in broad lines.

I loved the first no question. And that is where it should have ended. As far as I 'm concerned playing through a prequel would be more of the same. We already know what happened. We already know the entire history. Playing through it would be just going through the motions. A souless experience just like 2 was. There would be no sense of wonder or excitement. Unless of course you are new to the series. That is who a prequel would be designed for.

2K has already shown us that they can be trusted to do sequels - not quite as awe-inspiring as the original, but Bioshock 2 was pretty damn good - so I don't see why they shouldn't make a third one. The great thing about Rapture: it's the city that keeps on givin'

No, no. Not a prequel. They've already got one -B2's multiplayer.

I just hate prequels, that's all.

I have no problems with another cash-in game. A B3 cashin would still be better than 90% of the other games out there.

If they wanted to get innovative, the population of splicers, ADAM, Big Daddys/Sisters, etc, could break out onto the mainland and start causing havoc. A mainland company could get ahold of ADAM and start developing plasmids, much to their error. Or, hell, Rapture could come into conflict with ANOTHER underwater city.

That's just off the top of my head . . .but please, no prequels! :p

I like the idea of a prequel that people have been playing around with, espicaly what Cowabungaa has said. Seeing the fall of rapture would help tie in any loose ends and flesh out the stroy MUCH more.

I'm quite torn on this. On the one hand, I like the Bioshock games and would love to play more of them, but I also want the story to end.

Why do games with good stories always force this upon me!?

I wonder why you hate prequels. But especially with BioShock it would work very well. There is a wealth of history on Rapture that's totally untouched by both games. We haven't even seen the city in full glory! It would be a shame to let that all that brilliant material go to waste.

Plus, the multiplayer didn't really cover the civil war, obviously. No story or anything, you're not seeing Rapture going down.
