Had braces since near the end of 16.
18 with braces, won't get them off until this summer between HS graduation and college starting.

Don't know if it will ruin anything dating wise-as I have never been in a relationship (maybe the braces have something to do with it? But I didn't date before then.)

Socially it doesn't ostracize you though, you still have friends and all that. And the colored ones look really cute on some girls (maybe that's just me.)

Tell him to get over it? Just stop giving a fuck about it, and it might be slightly less noticeable.

Well, I hate to say this, but when you get braces at age 17, it is noticeable and un-attractive, it may not be a big a deal at age 13-15, but 17 is.... awkward.

I don't get the whole deal that you instantly are disgusting when wearing braces.

I agree here, depending on the colour of the braces and just how well they compliment the person they can be like glasses, sometimes cute sometimes not.

Im dating a girl that says she might need braces in the futur, really i wopnt care, one because i love her, and two because i just simply dont care.

Yeah, but I think glasses make the girl look extremely sexy about 99.999999999% of the time.

Yeah, glasses seem to make intuecuality shine, which is pretty sexy for me too.

I tend to like the thinner glasses best probably because that's what I wear:

Yeah something lik that. Thin and the squareish type, circular glasses just arent my type.

You mean pecker-wreckers? Braces are the worst...had them for three years when I was younger...ortho was a hack...thankfully, it wasn't my $5,000 that was wasted.

Hey Escapists, I've been reading this place for a while now, mostly without posting and you guys seem pretty straight talking people. So I have a little question for you.

Today, a friend of mine got braces. He's 17 and is convinced that the next 18 months of his life are ruined and that he will never find a date and his life is over. I disagreed.

So, Escapists, answering as honestly as possible, would you date someone (guy or gal) with braces?

Here's the thing...my time with braces was painful and awkward and I hated every minute of it. And would gladly do it again, if I had to. The payoff is totally worth the hassle.

Also, Brett Favre had braces as an adult, and I'd totally hit that. Just sayin'.

I had braces...oh 5 years ago. Experiencing it yourself makes you more accepting if you weren't already. If I find her attractive I'll go for it. They aren't permanent anyways.

Wow, thats weird, if you split the colour wheel in half then we like colours on complete opasite sides.

Thats awsome. Of course purple doesnt really count but i split the wheel verticaly.

That is weird. Red, orange, and yellow are my least favorite colors, while blue green and purple are my favorites
