If you like the games offered on the 360, get one. If you're planning on installing a lot of games on your HDD (the 360 can be quite noisy), get an Elite. If not, get a Pro.

If you are going to get one, go for the middle one. Enough room for a few games and cheaper than the pro one. I think it's being dropped out soon because they're bringing down the pro price so you may want to wait.
My overall advice is to wait. With the PS3 price drop coming there will be a lot more people with PS3s if you're worried about online play, and since the PS3 online play is free I'd stay put for a month or two.

Wait for the price drop that is coming soon and buy an Elite. They are phasing out the Pro and dropping the Elite to Pro price.

Semi-hijack of the thread (apologies to the OP, I hope you don't mind as it's extremely related, and if I created my own topic I'd be told "use the search button"):

I only (ha, only - I realise I was quite lucky) own a PS2 and an Xbox, and I'm fed up of not being able to get any decent new games - and the Xbox is old and getting incredibly noisy - I think it's going to die soon. Thus I'm looking at getting a 360 (as I've heard the PS3 can't play PS2 games, so I'll get more utility out of a 360 and PS2 than out of a PS3 and Xbox)

What's this about a drop in price, when's it likely to happen (as I wnat pre-order Halo3:ODST but with a console at the same time)? Is the difference in hard-drive space and the HDMI cable the only difference between the types of 360? Sorry, but with such old consoles I'm not up to date with having *different variations* of the same thing.

As a current PC gamer, I would recommend just upgrading your computer. The oldest video game console is still the best in my opinion. Still the nagging 360 gamer in the back of my head and history says that you should wait a while and get the Elite version of the 360. There are apparently being price cuts, and it is a good system. I just can't justify you buying it if you already have a PS3, though. Most of the new exclusives are coming out on the PS3 at the moment, and you'll have to pay an additional $80 per year if you want to play on the Internet. In retrospect, I wish I hadn't gotten a 360, but you may feel differently.
Difference is, PS3 online is complete and utter shit. You get what you pay for, I suppose.
I've actually had a much better experience on PSN, it works smoothly, hasn't glitched on me, less morons with headsets, overall its pretty great. XBL.....ehhh. XBL has messed up on me so many times now I can't even count, it will refuse to let me join a friends party, not let him join mine, kill our headsets at arbitrary points, die altogether and kick me from a game, refusing to download items; overall XBL is alright, but if it weren't for my friends, I would never pay for it.
I suppose you are just very lucky then. I can't think of a single good experience I've had with PSN. If it weren't free, I would never consider paying for it.

premiums are by far the best. they are just the same as the elite but the headset is slightly less good quality and it has 60 memory rather than 120.
You might think this is a big difference and so did i when i got the premium and i only had 52 memory because alot of the xbox dashboard stuff took up memoery, but now i have played 12 games on it, completing 10 (multiple times and ive only used 0.5 of my 52 memory. you really dont need to pay all the extra on an elite as you never need that much memory. by the time you start running out of memoery on the premium, you wont mind deleating the game saves from 5 years ago.

I'd say if you must have one now get a pro. If you can wait though. The pro is supposedly going to be phased out with the Elite replacing it at the same price point so if you can wait, do so.

Get the Elite. I have the Pro and a 20 gig hard drive isn't enough. I want to play Grand Theft Auto 4: The Lost and Damned, but I have to wait until it's put on the shelves with Ballad of Gay Tony so I can have some memory left.

If you're going to be doing much of any downloading go with an elite for the extra space. And yes find yourself a hefty warranty.

Aren't pro and premium the same?

Get those, they're getting rid of them soon. So they'll only have the elite and arcade. The elite is horrible, they grease up somewhat awful.

I've heard mixed speculations concerning the new (Jasper) models and if they have actually reduced the rrod problem. Nothing official has been announced (I was hoping to hear something about it at e3) but at this point I think MS wants it solved just as much as we do so it would be really stupid if it wasn't. One reason I've heard for them not releasing any results: they're still selling off the rest of their old (pre-jassper) models. With that under consideration, you may want to wait a month or two; especially since there's also a price cut rumored.

If you don't want to wait but rrod is still a concern, I would recommend the Arcade model as I hear that's the one that has the least cases of rrod.

Considering you already have a ps3, it wouldn't be a travesty if your 360 bricks; you'll still have something to play on while you send it back. Most of my friends with all systems get multiplatforms on the ps3 for this reason.

Do your own research. How are we to tell you what games you may be interested in?

Find out what games are currently on the 360 or due to come out. Then, narrow that list down based on what games you're actually interested in and what ones are 360 only. Once you get the finished list, you're free to decide if the available games, both now and in the future, are worth getting a 360 for.

No, it's not worth it in the long run. I'd say wait to see if the PS3 drops in price.

Get a pro, the elite is really pointless unless you abuse your disks and need to install all your games to your hard drive. You're going to want a warranty, too, 'cause everyone's 360 breaks down eventually.

Go elite but wait because their is a possibility of it replacing the pro model so its price will drop $100

Or $50 dollars for the year.
