I stick with Mum and Dad. Never occurred to me to do anything different. Although Mum varies - it's Mummy if I want something childish, Mother if she's done something annoying.

My step-dad gets his first name used, though.

I've never called my mum by her first name usually just some variant on mum, my dad always dad or robert if we are arguing though rarer these days. Would just be too weird calling them by their first name.

Sometimes I would call my dad by his first name, but as a result, he would then call me by one of my nicknames from when I was a baby. So now I don't do that unless I felt like bugging him.

As for my mom, well, I'm not completely stupid. :p

Only when I can't get their attention for whatever reason.

It's a bit like "Mum, mum, mum! MUM! Heather!" "Hm? Yes Tom?"

I think she's just learned to tune out non-emergency related cries of "mum." I think think that's reasonable.
Just thought i'd quote this because we have the same name.

Anyway no, it'd be far too weird to even consider calling my dad by his name.

It's probably about 50/50 between some variation of 'mum' and some variation of her first name, Jack, Jackie, Quils, Quilsy, Qline etc.

Though dad is just 'dad'.

I do it all the time. Plus my parents prefer to be called by their first names.

*looks at poll*

Seriously people? So many of you use 'mom and dad'?

No, but should I ever have children, I will raise them to call me by my name. It is just more personal.

Nope. Never have never will. If I had step parents I would call them by their names, but my mother and father will always be referred to by some rendition of those words. If I'm trying to get their attention in a large group I might use their name, but beyond that.. Nope.

Nope. Sounds weird but their real names actually mean nothing to me. Mum and Dad are what I know them as.

I call my mother, "Mommy" and my father, "Papa".

If I have children of my own, I will have them call me by my name when we are at home or in private and the title in public. Makes it less weird when there are others around.

Only in public to get their attention. IE if I see my dad in a crowded street I will call him by his name because "Dad" is simply far too common for him to actually respond to. So pretty rare.

Nah, it always has been and always will be 'Mom'.

She could turn into the worst person imaginable and it still wouldn't negate all of the things she has done for me. She deserves a medal for putting up with teenage me, Christ, I was an angsty nightmare.

Its considered rude to call parents/grandparents/aunts & uncles by their first name only in our family. Its the same to me as how I'd never be able to call any of my teachers by their first name or any authority figure with a title.

No. I do not.

I never thought about it when I was young but my mom told me when I was younger that she sees it as particularly disrespectful. So she's probably kick my ass if I tried that.

Either way, I don't see a point in doing so.

I don't consider saying 'mum' or 'dad' as creating a difference between myself or my parents, so I'm fine with calling them that. I once tried calling them by their names when I was 10 and I wanted to act grown up, but it sounded weird and din't last more than a couple of days.

If I ever got separated from my parents in a large open place (mall, museum, etc.) I used to call out "MOM!, DAD!" really loudly trying to find them. I eventually realized that there were probably allot of parents there with their kids, so I started calling out my parents full names in such situations to make sure they noticed. Any other situation I call them mom and dad.
