My mom's pretty cool.

I definitely want to be a cool parent (if I ever become a parent.) Basically act just a bit older than I am right now. Growing up's for suckas

My Dad is a Project Manager for the Ministry of Transportation, and used to be.. something like an Engineer.
I get the low-down on all the goings on in the Government...
(regarding gravel, contractors, cranes, concrete pylons and traffic jams x)

And my Mom is an accountant.

Insuch I get all sorts of fantastic practical advice about money and building stuff. Like patching holes in the drywall so you can get your damage deposit back from your landlady.

Both my parents are cool in their own way. It took a bit of effort at first, but I got my dad into video games. He particularly likes the Super Smash Bros. games and Star Wars: Battlefront 2. We often agree on many issues, but we respect each other's opinions when we don't. We'll often spend hours discussing the various idiocies of politics (neither the left or right are spared) and how we're constantly mystified at the three-ring circus that is popular culture and celebrity worship.

My mom doesn't care much for video games. She rarely gets involved in our sociopolitical discussions, but she can be very thoughtful and insightful when she does. She's an excellent cook and she's interested in a wide range of music, from classical to world and folk to jazz. She was the one who introduced my father and I to musicals, and we've been hooked ever since.

It says a lot when my friends are also my parent's friends. They'll sometimes drop by and visit my folks if they can't get together with me on a given day.

They aren't uncool in any particular way, I mean I go to gigs and stuff with my dad, but they aren't "cool" either... it's such a poor definition of someone to be honest.

When I was first told the story of my parents' lives, I was awestruck. They are very cool. Not hip, but seriously bad-ass, great people, who will be sorely missed by many, many others when they pass away. Not just family, but pretty much everyone whose lives they have touched.

Mum's had dinner with Steve Jobbs, Bill Gates, a few rock stars, a couple of politicians, and a few other famous people. She seems to have been to every country on Earth. She's fiendishly clever and practical, as is my dad.

Dad's just lead an incredibly interesting and successful life- born in the Indian Ocean as the son of a master mariner back when photos were still black and white and food was still a little rationed. He's seen a lot, and, crucially, learnt from it.

Not just for their successes in the business world, but what they've done and are still doing for the lives of so many people. I want to be just like them when I'm older- witty, intelligent, pragmatic, selfless, empathetic, wise.

I admire them greatly, even if they do piss me off sometimes. Mum is always singing and making unfunny comments, and dad is OCD to an annoying degree. They are both frustratingly mothering and generally annoy me.

Everyone who meets them seems to agree- they're a pretty awesome pair.

They let me go out and drink 'beverages of the adult kind' and don't tell me off when I come in 'adultly'. They like cool music and are generally pretty awesome. The have their downs, like being too serious about casual topics, but they're pretty cool overall.

My mum speaks too loduly during private conversations when in public, quickly gets stressed to the point of high pitched squeaking, and she attempts to sing to almost everything.

They're not hip or fashionable or anything, but they are nice and give me a lot of freedom. I like that.

Not at all. Both of them try to be "cool", but to be honest it's just not in their nature.

They're awesome in every respect except for one. The first thing they turn to when questioning why something is not right with them about me (i.e. they think I dont do enough extracurricular crap or they think I am not on top of my college application process, or anything else they are dissatisfied with) is video games. They're down to just take my 360 away from me whenever they want, but I honestly do not mind. If they want to do it, let them. I'm not going to fight them over it anymore because to do so would be degrading all of us to bickering about materialist crap that I'll get back eventually. As far as I'm concerned if they want to act effective by taking it, that's fine by me.

They still let me do anything else I could possibly want, and keep a well stocked fridge if you catch my drift.

My parents are kind of cool in the sense that they actually give me some freedom, and know how to avoid embarrassing me in front of other people. Their tastes in music are definitely a mark down though.

well, they only intervened when i wanted to do really dumb shit. So i guess they could have been worse. Plus they supported most of the stuff important to me and helped me out whenever they could. Yeah i guess in global comparison i was quite lucky, i never really wanted some kind of best-friends-parents thing, thats always a lil strange. We dont talk much, we are interested in different things, but it still works out and its good like that.
As a teen i could do more or less everything i wanted, like leaving for the weekend, going to a club or party midweek, skipping school a few days a year without a reason and such. That was worth alot.

Kind of, they give me Twenty Pounds a week for 'School' (Yeah Right.) and they actually have good taste in music and they play games sometimes.

They let me down by doing stuff like walking around the house completely naked before standing in front of a Window and striking a heroic pose, allowing everybody to see how my parents made me. Thanks Dad.
sound cool but eccentric to me XD
mine are OLLLLLDDD. as in dont know how the hell a computer works and will dispair about technology as soon as al leave the house old. XD
also, they think paracetamol makes everything better, all the time. XD
and their just stupid, realy XD as in unintelligent, and uniformed about modern stuff. XD
their are quite knowledgable about old stuff though, and my dad has this knack for trading. as in build in 60% discount XD
