I'm half way there.
My dad is super chill, and we're in to a lot of the same stuff. (Monty Python, Star Wars, etc.)
My mom is, quite likely, suffering from borderline personality disorder (at the least), and emotionally abusive.

My Mum was kind of "cool" in the sense she smoked, drunk, partied, acted like an idiot every night. My Dad wasn't that cool.

Mine are okay. They used to be overcontrolling assholes (including grounding me for 3 weeks because they thought if I didn't hang out with my gay friend I'd turn straight).

but since I've moved out they've been much less...friendly. I don't really even have a parental relationship with them anymore. They're just like 2 people I happen to know now.

Weird how that shit changes...

My biological mother was awesome. My stepfather was a dick. Fast-forwarding past unnecessary gory details. My adoptive mother is awesome. My adoptive father is fun to hang around when he's trying to be my buddy, but a controlling perfectionist that acts like he disapproves of everything I do when he's wearing the "dad" hat.

I wish this was the case for me, because my dad's a controlling perfectionist dick and everything big I own is in his name. If I wasn't unemployed I could work to buy him out or give his stuff back and buy my own, but no car=no job or college where I live. I wish he'd forget I existed.

I was at a family Christmas party yesterday. I played MtG with my dad and uncle. My dad won all games. My dad is currently playing Poker Night for me to earn all the tables and decks. My mum was playing a co-op game of Hexen the other day. I'm gonna say yes, my parents are the coolest cool around.

Yes mine are very cool. In fact they are probably cool in every way other than not listening to me when I ask them to smoke outside. Bastards are getting lazy so I may have to put the boot in.

My dad is conservative and religious, in the most stereotypical way. He also absolutely believes modern music and video games are destroying the children.

On the other hand, my mom isn't overly religious and she understands that during her generation, the Beatles and classic rock was "destroying the children," so she understands that games don't obliterate your mind and turn you into a psychopath. So I'd classify her as cool.

Therefore, I chose kind of.

Cool is a rather abstract term, but my parents love me and are fairly laid back. My mom is computer/internet savvy having been online for about 20 years now. And my dad's an RPG gamer who's starting to look at FPS's because of Portal.

i guess so, they never let me drink, but i never wanted to. My dad is a computer technition, and he always had spare comp parts. being a geek with a dad who is also a geek is pretty nice.

I remember one time my hardrive got corrupted and wouldnt allow windwos to properly install or do updates, and i told my dad. He said "Well theres a few 500gb harddrives on my work desk, you can have one." I was using a 250gb(i think) at the time...my jaw dropped a lil.

Yeah, they're hardworking, self motivated and polite. They're a great role model for me.

I'm pretty proud of my parents, I definitely think they're cool. They were both teens in the 80's, so we actually share a lot of music and movie tastes and there isn't too much of a generation gap (they were 19 and 20 when I was born). My mom actually has an Ozzy Osbourne song as the ring tone on her phone.

That being said, they're both pretty sheltering and protective. And while they don't "tell" me what I can and can't do, they aren't above taking an hour out of my day for laying on the guilt about whatever they have a problem with.

My dad is a gamer who plays TTRPGs with me and Magic the gathering, and my Mom is into a lot of good movies...and rock band---so ya, they're cool.

I'll quote Bruce Springsteen on this one: "If your children think you're cool, you're doing it wrong."

OT: Kind of, but not really. Can't wait for next fall, when I move away.

My dad is a musicologist and my mom was a journalist. Those are pretty cool. If not cool enough, my dad works for the U.S. Embassy here in Vancouver, he likes to work on hot rods and also has several guns.

EDIT: I apologize, I'm not giving enough credit to my mom. Must be because she's dead (leukemia, which is a pretty cool way to die, if you think about it). She was French (from France that is) and always was freakishly on vogue. She knew everyone in the business and, well, she was cool, yeah.

to use a term they would understand: my parents are squares!

(so that's a no)

I wouldn't say my parents are 'cool' per say, but they're definitely memorable. You know that bumbling, but loveable portly gentleman with the bristly mustache you see in movies? That's basically my dad. His heart is always in the right place even if he is a bit clumsy. My mom is very nurturing and wants the best for me, but she is very easy to stress out, and that makes things a bit tense for both me and my dad. However, those are minor problems in an otherwise mutually agreeable relationship for all parties involved.

Since I live with my grandma, my parents are... "questionable". But if we consider my grandma, she has her moments when she is cool. But there are times when, well, she is a parent still. What parent has never embarrassed their kids before?
