Being primarily a PC player, I'm totaly for it, besides the fact that it means i'll be playing against controllers, I think it could also extend the life of a lot of games.
Maybe, but if you own the console and the game, you should be pretty damn efficient with that controller, so I don't think it would matter at all.JourneyThroughHell said:Eh. I don't know. I think that it's really about the controllers and I think that some controllers might be better suited for a certain game than others - giving some players a disadvantage.
But, hey, it's an alright idea - just not something console developers would want to do.
Sure... but I still think the controllers will make a noticeable difference.captaincabbage said:Maybe, but if you own the console and the game, you should be pretty damn efficient with that controller, so I don't think it would matter at all.JourneyThroughHell said:Eh. That doesn't matter, certain controllers are still inferior when compared to others, simply because of technical limitations.captaincabbage said:Maybe, but if you own the console and the game, you should be pretty damn efficient with that controller, so I don't think it would matter at all.JourneyThroughHell said:Eh. Maybe that's just me.
Can you give me some examples?Dana22 said:That doesn't matter, certain controllers are still inferior when compared to others, simply because of technical limitations.captaincabbage said:Maybe, but if you own the console and the game, you should be pretty damn efficient with that controller, so I don't think it would matter at all.JourneyThroughHell said:Eh. Well, erm, okay. I use the 360 controller for shooters (and, therefore, buy them for the 360), the PS3 one for driving games and the PC one for Steam games.captaincabbage said:Sure, maybe.
What controller and games do you use? (if any)
Actually...Atmos Duality said:Collaboration between the big three isn't going to happen.
PC might act as a sort of "Neutral Ground" between Sony or Microsoft, but beyond that this just isn't going to happen. Nintendo is just going to flat-out say "FUCK NO". Their network can't handle the extra data, and their console is a total joke compared to the others technologically speaking.
That, and Nintendo has an "isolationist/anti-stalking" philosophy going on: Their "Friend Codes". That shit just won't fly in any matchmaking environment.
So for the sake of the argument, lets assume Nintendo doesn't exist.
Microsoft and Sony want to keep you in their territory for any number of reasons, the main one being that if a game becomes popular on one console for its multiplayer, more customers will migrate to the popular console/network. Since no sane customer is going to buy two copies of the same game (one for each console) we can assume the gamesw are mutually exclusive.
That means more royalties for their company, and (more importantly) less for their competition.
That probably is just you. The 360 controller is a dual shock controller with some slight changes to the shoulder buttons, and the location of the D-pad and left analog stick switched. The controllers are similar enough that it comes down completely to personal preference; personally, I don't care for Xbox style controllers, and do much better with Dual Shock variants. The situation becomes a bit different when you include the Wii Mote/Nunchuck combo and the Mouse/Keyboard combo.JourneyThroughHell said:Well, erm, okay. Eh. Really, I think that those forced to play, for example, Killzone 2 with the PS3 controller against someone playing it with the 360 one are in clear disadvantage.
Again, that's probably just me.
