Let's put it this way: Vegeta could blow up a planet easily prior to his encounter with Goku. Goku became much stronger than vegeta was than. Than he became a super saiyan, again much much stronger than he was before. And so on... And let's not forget that Goku can use the instantaneous teleportation which probably makes him the fastest thing from all the fantasy worlds (he can travel through galaxies in a fraction of time). But even his "normal" speed probably far exceeds superman's. DBZ probably has the most overpowered characters in fiction. This has been settled. It's been proven with scientific math that Superman's power level is less than 7000, which means he's weaker (and would lose) to Goku by the time he learned Kaioken and was on his way back to fight Nappa and Vegeta.
This was concluded by some measure that defined Superman's strength by comparison to a regular human being (probably mentioned in a comic or else where lore wise) with a power level (according to Raditz's scouter) being 5.
Even if it were 1, Superman would at best reach only 35 000. Krillin could beat Superman post-Namek.

So let's say for some reason they did have to fight to the death, this battle is going to rage on for a while. What Superman has in stamina and endurance, Goku surely matches with speed and technique. The problem is that we've never really seen Goku actually go all out in a fight, he's almost always worried about destroying the planet he's on.
Going back to near the start of dragonball, roshi blew up the moon easily enough, and he was revealed to have around 130 power level. By the end of Z or even GT power levels were in around the billion millions or some other insanely high number.generals3 said:

Maybe that's why the goku vs superman one comes up so often. Supes is the only guy people can think of whose OP enough to qualify for comparison
(though my own personal experience with superman cartoons... mostly the occasional justice league cartoon whenever i happened to be watching, he doesn't seem anywhere near as strong as some people say. I mean, he has your usual plot armour for the hero, and his super powers, but he's actually knocked around or fought to a stand still fairly easily... I'm guessing some alternate versions must be more powerful, maybe even into the 'gag character' kind of feats)

Goku is a better fighter, he is stronger, faster, knows how to teleport and even his basic energy rays are a lot more effective then Supermans eye-lazers. But he is not the smartest person around, so Superman just might trick him.
Also, we don't know which versions of characters will be used, so we are still free to speculate.

Wonderful comedic contribution aside, you DBZ fans are ignoring something HUGE!! his kiss give you amnesia (see my first post). Also Superman has a form of martial arts as well (a kryptonian one), and there is only so much that can be done with martial arts, granted there is a lot you can do, but if your opponent is a martial artist master who is around the same speed as you, then you will know what to do about most dummy punches/kicks/throws/chops and so on. So admittedly Goku's kung fu would be a lot better, but superman also has an ancient alien martial art. So I wouldn't call it an overbearing advantage.
Also to all of you saying Goku can blow up planets, as I said before Superman survived 15 supernovas. A planet cracking blast will feel like a hard slap to Superman. So raw power is not the way to beat either of them in my opinion, but cunning will win the battle. Also consider Goku being a lovely chap but a bit thick in dee head, superman is always pretty smart bordering on genius sometimes, so reckon Supes could outsmart Goku.
Captain Marvel is more powerful than Superman anyway.

Although in that case, I imagine Goku would just blast off to wherever he can find Kryptonite and shove it down Supermans throat.
If no Kryptonite was around, I think the fight would never end. Superman couldn't overpower Goku but if he himself is otherwise immortal then Goku couldn't kill him. It really is an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.

This all hinges on whether or not Goku has Kryponite. Because if he doesn't, the Boy Scout will ultimately win.
