on the basis that all rock sucks.

Not particularly. There's the odd song or two that I'll listen to if I'm in the mood, but I generally tend to avoid it.

I like all of metal's variants, and Death Metal is no exception.

But I do think some people take the subgenre thing way too seriously...

Can't say I've heard any death metal that I liked but then I haven't heard much to be fair. I'm also not good at classifying music into genres so it's possible that there's a death metal song that I love but I think that it's post punk metalcore or something.

I'm more into clean vocals, as lyrics are important to me and if people are growling I can't tell what the fuck they're singing about. Musicwise I'm more into melodic, trash and Industrial.

agreed, you do suck. you didn't honestly expect you could post that and not get trolled right?

and yes, people do take subgenres too seriously. I've heard about animals getting slaughtered on stage in those shows... never seen it myself though, but I think that's taking it a teensy bit too far. not just death metal, glam is pretty over the top too...

As someone mentioned earlier, death metal does not have to have growling vocals, and there are many other genres of metal where growling is used as the preffered vocal style. I find myself to enjoy death metal when I'm in the right mood, but generally I just listen to my Progressive metal and my mathcore.

No I'm more of an industrial metal/grindcore type.

I do like that guy Burzum though.

If anyones interested
Do you like Ministry? They're my favourite industrial metal band.

OT: I do get the urge sometimes to listen to some really heavy death metal. But most of the time it's not really my type of thing.

You aren't referring to pornogrind by any chance? Cause I love it, hahaha.
Goregrind makes we want to rip out someone's throat. It's THAT good.

I consider these to be under the blanket of death metal, because it's just like death metal except it sounds like it was recorded inside a garbage can. Bands like Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Deicide, and Cattle Decapitation got me into it originally (after Slipknot of course lulz) and since then I've been lucky to see Cephalic Carnage and Black Dahlia Murder. Though truth be told, I'd rather have Circle of Dead Children over Children of Bodom, anyday. Does anyone here remember Gorerotted? They were awesome.

I dont really go out of my way to hear it and what not. But, if its on when I am at a friends party, then, I dont usually onject.

Although some of it is too much for me.

I hate grunting with a passion, so it's a definite no for me. Plus the way they play the guitar hurts my ears. No thanks, really, please keep it away from me. Really far away at that.

I like death metal. But the fact that there's like a gazillion different sub-genres to the whole metal scene. It makes it agonizingly annoying to talk about metal in general. Or even to talk about a specific sub-genre. >_<

I'm kind of embarrassed but I took the all caps option. I love death metal.
