For consoles: Discs. They look nice, I can put them in my shelf and browse them and lean back in the couch. Also, the HDD on my Xbox 360 is only 60 gigs, so it would fill up after ~10 games.
For computers: Downloads. I have a pretty massive HDD, and I don't want to mess about swapping discs just to play a game that is already installed. Hooray for Steam!
this for sure. couldn't have said it better myself

Buying smaller and/or older games is done much better on Steam(especially if you have to fiddle with DOSBox or something like that to get it to run, Steam already does all the work for you), however larger ones are definitely better on discs.

Depends on the price really. If a disc and a download are the same price, then I'll get the disc, if it's cheaper to download, I'll download.

I used to love discs, but with the disk check drm most computer games use, downloads are more convenient. I don't have to then change discs on my computer to change games.

Both. I don't mind having downloads but if I have to download, I want a copy on disk too. It's too easy to lose a download and then get screwed.

Discs, but I'm really fine with downloads. But yeah, I prefer discs.

I especially want the instruction manual.
I always read the instructions, I don't know why, but I just have to.
But yeah, discs. I actually kinda like cleaning them. Although if this was a "which do you enjoy cleaning the most?" thread, I would say cartridges.

Discs. Mainly because it's a physical thing and comes with an instruction manual. And I like intruction manuals.

I don't have a problem with downloads, though.

I like having discs, but I also love Impulse. Overall, I'd say I prefer downloads, but if the disc is DRM free and will let me install the game again where and when I want it, then I sure as hell want one of those too.

I like having a disc, but I hate having to change them.

So I want disc, but without the disc-read (honestly, for non-piracy related things.). Xbox games with multiple discs should have only one disc that can play from the hard drive, but that can read both discs on the hard drive... like the old "Install Disc" and "Play Disc" that you have in computer games.

If you don't install the game, Disc 1 acts like Disc 1, and Disc 2 acts like Disc 2.

If you do install it, Disc 1 acts like Disc 1, and Disc 2 acts like Disc 1 and Disc 2.

That way, if you install it, you could potentially lend the first disc to a friend so they could play the first disc, but they'd need the second disc to play the whole game. You could sell disc 1 if you were really stupid, but you'd have to sell both discs to sell the whole game.

I really hope they adopt this sort of thing with xbox, because I don't see the harm, for starters, and it would make multidisc games so much easier.. and soon 250gb HDDs will be standard (what with the slim having it built in, eventually they'll phase out the elites and arcades), so there's plenty of space for everyone.

Mandatory installs? Psh, you should be installing your games anyway, it's easier on your disc drive, which is basically the weakest link of the modern Xbox 360.

Discs. I like to have something in my hand to prove that I bought the game. I'm the same way with music.

Disc, so that if I uninstall a game it's easier to go back at a later date and reinstall. I do that a lot with my older games because sometimes I just want to play them again and it would take longer to redownload a game to install versus popping the disc in

I like downloads for the older games you can struggle to find on disc, like KotOR or Jade Empire on Steam.

Equally, I like discs, for the ease of use, no online requirement, plus the tangible benefits.

So... ummm. Both?

Discs are better! Why? Because you get to hold it in your hand, and if your computer explodes, you don't have to buy the game again to install it!
