Poll: Do you avoid large threads?

Just a silly poll I came up with. I have this knack for avoiding threads with 100's of replies, as I:

A. Don't feel like sifting through hundreds of replies.
B. Feel like whatever I have to say has probably already been said.
C. Have this nagging feeling that a thread that large has probably resulted in a war or two.

And if this thread gets too long, you can bet I won't be coming back to it!

EDIT: I hit enter too quickly and now there's nothing in the polls. Oops. I go to EDIT but I don't see where I can fill in the polls. If anyone wants to help me out with that, PM me or just let me know in the thread.

I don't like some of the bigger ones (for instance, the holiday council) as they usually have crap all to do with me.

I usually don't post in huge threads because I get the feeling my opinion just won't matter at that point.

I don't avoid them, I merely don't post in them except when there's an issue that hasn't been addressed yet. I usually read through all the replies and try to form my thoughts on the subject. Then, I refresh it to see if anyone thought of what I was thinking.

If yes, I go back to observing.
If no, I post.

I don't avoid them I just don't get around to posting. Mostly what I have been thinking has already been said. Either that or the whole thread feels like a "in joke" situation, if you weren't there from the start you jump in half way

I tend to avoid massive threads because if I'm wrong or people disagree with me, I'll be flamed at least five times.
And I don't feel like going through 10 pages of posts, most of which are idiots who think their opinion is what truly matters.

Yeah, I don't normally bother with large threads for two reasons.

A) I don't want to read through 200 posts, that's not what I come on the internet for.

B) If I do manage to come up with something to post, its likely already been posted 5 times at that point.

Of course, it would be rather ironic if this thread got up in the post count and then I started avoiding it, now wouldn't it?

Most of the bigger ones are the dumber ones (controversial threads, etc.), but there are some great ones if you sieve through them.

I don't normally have the time to read through all 150 or more posts, so yes I tend to avoid them. But some of the more rant friendly ones are ok. And I'm in disbelief with the math thread, I'd never have thought something like that would get hundreds of replies.

It depends on how involved in the thread I am. If it's an interesting discussion I could post many times. Normally though, I say my piece and am done.

I'll read the OP and skim as much as catches my interest. If the thread as a whole proves enticing, I'll read it thoroughly, bookmark, then reply. However, the Holiday Council is just a point of "hell no" when it comes to 70 or so pages. I don't have that much time I'm afraid.

In the spirit of jumping on the bandwagon, I'm going to agree wth Labyrinth and wilson. If there's something to be said, I'll say it and go away. There's no point in reiterating what's been said before.

I will admit that if it's longer than 3 pages and the OP isn't something where saying the same thing would be noticeable, I will stay away from it.

I basically entered this thread just because it was so few comments.

Plus i would never comment unless i'd read everything, so threads with over 100 comments is not an option. And IF you'd find an interesting topic and you actually read all the 500 comments you'd just break the discussion as the new kid.

So if there were a poll in this poll then yes, i avoid them.

The amount of replies usually doesnt bother me, but i do avoid topics that are pages long..
When i go into a topic, i like the topic question short, if the author of the topic has witten something that takes 5 mins to read i just skip out..

On other forums I've discovered that I'm a thread killer, and usually my posts are relevant to the matter at hand, yet it doesn't seem to matter...

These large threads could be compared to effecient machines, nearly everything is flowing correctly, yet if I show up and try to get in the "line", it halts, stops dead, freezes, dies, CEASES ALL ACTIVITY.

Basically, yeah, I avoid them.
