I really have no idea what exactly you're talking about with 'soda' and 'pop', but Mountain Dew is a lemonade and things like Mountain Dew, cola etc are collectively known in Australia as soft drinks (as opposed to 'hard' drinks such as spirits)

I refer to them as a whole as 'soft drinks'.
Honestly, I never really understood that. What are 'hard drinks', then? o.o

I call the drink what it is. Coke zero, for example:

If I'm drinking a Coke Zero, I just tell people I'm drinking a Coke Zero

But.. but.. the lemon... where's the lemon!
Fanta is good lemonade.

Despite what my contemporaries think, Coke Zero tastes good. It's one of my favorite Lemonades.

Just whatever brand it is, I've never called soft drinks "soda" or "pop" in my 18 years here.

[sub]Also Mountain Dew is gross, it tastes like medicine. Don't hurt me O_O'[/sub]

Fizzy drink or soft drink. Very very few people use soda in Australia, and I can't say i've ever heard someone say pop.

because beer is a wide variety, and nearly all of them taste identical, and those that don't you would ask specifically for it. 'Fanta' can fall under many categories, simply because its the widest orange flavored soft drink, everyone knows what Fanta is, and if they dont have it, they just say no
Never has a non-beer drinker been so obvious.

Here we just call the drinks by their names, but if we're referring to a lot of different types as one, we say 'soft drinks'

Usually a whole lot more specific, reason being that saying I want a soda or pop, is way too ambiguous. I don't want just any carbonated alchemical concoction, chances are I have my heart set on a particular kind, e.g. Diet Coke. Sometimes I'd even have to specify more specifically than that, e.g. the caffeinated Diet Coke, not the Coke Zero. All they have a Diet Pepsi? Yuck: get me a water.
