And thank you for teaching me something new too! :33trollnystan said:Ah, then I apologise. It's probably my brain's translation software that's faulty =/ In Sweden coffee-flavoured cake is called "kaffekaka" which translates into English as "coffee cake". My sibs and I have always said coffee cake when speaking English, but I can't remember if my (Irish) mother did so.arsenicCatnip said:If you mean coffee-flavored cake, then I'm mistaken. But I eat coffeecake, which is cake intended to be eaten with coffee. Go to any store and buy a coffeecake, and I guarantee that 95% will not actually have any coffee in them.
Thank you for teaching me something new =D
I'm surprised that anyone with a roasting background even touches Starbucks coffee. They don't even specify the roast on their coffee, and the offends the hell out of me. Also, double americanos? Dark roasts? What method are you using to brew? The Shade said:-snip-
When you live in Suburbia, and you're going to set before 6:00am, your options are pretty limited. I prefer the private coffee places in downtown Toronto, but for how often I'm down there, it's hardly practical. Besides, I like Starbucks. I've had enough of it to know what roast each coffee is, so I wouldn't need the labels anyway.Dissolve said:I'm surprised that anyone with a roasting background even touches Starbucks coffee. This is the roaster I have. Works okay. Not as good as my Dad's.Also, double americanos?
Only at work, from our cafeteria. Purely for the late-day caffeine boost. It's not an instant coffee, but it's hardly a spectacular brew, either. It's either that or their "Hazelnut" nonsense.Dark roasts?
Well done, sir. You've definitely redeemed yourself as a coffee connoisseur (I was a little concerned). I have to say, I'm pretty impressed to find someone as interested in coffee as myself. I can sympathise concerning work coffee. I work at a high-end cafe, but it seems like in their interest in serving four-star dishes, they forgot about their coffee. The espresso is okay, but the roast they buy is like charcoal. I'm not surprised to hear about your roast preferences, though. Dark roast is definitely old-school, and so far as I can tell, there's a bit of interest in light roasts that's brewing up right now. -zing-The Shade said:-snip-

Strangely, I actually started with MacDonald's coffee. It was free, we were tired. It was surprisingly good, at the time. Taste in coffee evolved, but two years later I went back and tried the McD's coffee again. Absolutely terrible.Dissolve said:-snip-
