Never really seen any. I don't watch films these days and have no interest in comics, barring a nostalgic warmth for 2000AD/Judge Dredd, so his content has never been relevant to my interests.
Oh you won't catch him covering those... as we all know: Pop culture only exists in America... only American comics ever matter... GOD FORBID someone who looks at Geek Ephemera would look at 2000AD or Sonic The Comic. Why... that would be positively madness. Not even a wider look at Dan Abnetts work when Guardians was coming out.
Um...God forbid somebody have interests which happen to not extend far beyond the borders of their own country? I would agree that most of the things Bob is familiar with are American based (barring film history, he is quite well versed in global film history and trends), but that doesn't mean he's only interested in American media because he looks down upon the works of other countries or sees them as unworthy of following. That's just ridiculous. In general I only eat American food, but that doesn't mean I think the food of other nations is unworthy of touching my lips. I just...don't like them. Or I haven't had the time or means to go out and try them.

At the moment, I'm the only one who's voted for "He's my favourite Escapist contributor."

I periodically enjoy The Big Picture, and watch the occasional film review, but I don't particularly like his taste in movies, which grossly limits the content that interests me. Also, when he speaks to facts, he's often just wrong. I'm not sure if he doesn't do research, does do research but not well, or just doesn't care, but it's off-putting.

Otherwise? He's okay.

Well, someone else did. I don't know who, just that you're no longer out on that ledge alone.

I watch/read/enjoy his stuff. Don't always agree with him. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. But agreeing isn't necessarily a prerequisite for enjoyment.

I think I like him because of his expertise and occasionally scathing style. But I think that's also why I find him that much more loathsome when he's being a dick.

Generally, no.

His movie commentaries are okay when he's not abusing terrible gimmicks. The rest of the Moviebob experience I can do without; if I wanted to read or hear lunatic rants from a self-appointed cultural guardian I'd go watch Fox News.

To put it lightly, no; I cannot stand the guy. And I'm a big fan of harsh critics, like Brooker, Yahtzee, and Sterling. But Bob always seems to be arrogant in his commentary, using his bias as a crux as opposed to a reference point. That and I studied film, so I can't stomach his movie reviews given that most of them make little to no sense in my mind. The Road = a film in which nothing happens vs 2012 = best apocalypse film of 2012? No.

To be perfectly honest, now that Jim has gone I'm seriously thinking about taking my leave from this site given the sheer volume of Bob stuff posted here.

He's a smart guy and I agree with many of his views but whenever it comes to gender and representation... OH DEAR GOD STOP.

He's not an idiot but his interactions on social media are appalling. He lacks the self-awareness of Jim and Yahtzee, my favourite contributors and his ramblings on sexism completely miss the point. (Remember how he thought Link being female would be revolutionary? *shudder*)

I wish he wasn't as facetious when discussing serious issues. I used to respect him but now he's a liberal equivalent of that one lunatic right-winger that has a good grasp on certain issues and an absolutely flimsy grasp on others.

I don't always agree with him, but I think the man is fairly good at what he does, and certainly has a knack for breaking down things like movies in his reviews.

That said, his tendency to keep swinging long after the horse is dead has frequently left me tired of watching his videos or reading his articles. When he's able to go five minutes without reminding us of how much he hated The Amazing Spider-Man he's pretty good though.

Sure, I like his content. The Big Picture is the highlight of my Tuesdays. He's opinionated, but shit, even when I disagree with him, I respect that he has the courage to stand by his opinions and not pander to opposition with simpering silence.

Zero Punctuation made me come over and start lurking on The Escapist. Escape to the Movies is what made me say, "screw it" and sign up. I really like Big Picture too and whenever he posted Overthinker on youtube I'd be sure to check that out too. I haven't seen many new Overthinkers but I think those moved to a different site...oh well.

I often enjoy his content, more so when he is info dumping his geek knowledge than any other time. Politically? I feel that his posts on twitter and other outlets paint him as the sort of extremist that I tend to ignore as irrelevant to intelligent discussion. I don't hate him for it, but I can't take him seriously because of it.

I'm not a fan, mainly because our tastes are quite different.
And I don't care for some of his style choices on some of his videos, mainly how it seems like he speeds up the the dialog and his switching of accents (ok the last isn't something he choose to do, but it does pull me away when watching).
And because of that, I tend not to watch his videos, sometimes I do if the topic interests me, but it's not a regular thing.

All that being said it's just a taste thing, nothing is wrong with his videos, and I hope he continues to make them.

Didn't he call them ISIS a while back on twitter? Well, guess I'm off to syria then.
That was Faraci, and his sentiment was that at least ISIS were honest about what they were doing rather than trying to paint a hate crusade as being about 'real issues'.

On topic, really enjoy bobs work. Brought some weird and wonderful stuff to light.

I used to like the guy when he talked more about comics and movies. Now he's shifted into more political topics and he's much more bitter about everything. He still talks about movies and comics obviously, but I don't watch his content nowadays because there's a 50/50 chance it'll be some petty rant.

Over the years I've watched most of his film reviews because we tend to share an overall opinion, if not completely the same idea. I use his reviews as a barometer (among other review sources) to determine if something's worth my time. His Big Picture videos are often interesting and well explained trivia, but rarely anything more than that.

But I find him as a person to be quite hypocritical at times, which is something I absolutely hate. His aggressive attitude really rubs me the wrong way too. Especially his defensive comment rebuttals.

Overall, quite like the content. Probably wouldn't be friends with the guy if I knew him, but that's fine. To each his own right?
