Poll: Do you generally think short hair is unattractive on most women?

Well, the poll didn't work.

Before you answer, I know that some women can pull off any look and that any woman could find at least one short hairstyle that would be attractive on her. But with all other things being equal, which way do you lean? There are some people who have some strong feelings on this subject apparently, but lets try and keep it civil.
I know someone thought my poll on beards was trying to prove some sexist point but that thread and this thread is just random curiosity. But so you know there's no secret sexist agenda behind my question let me explain what prompts it.
So I was hanging out with some friends and one woman in our group points out a woman on the street and says she likes her haircut (it was a rather short pixie type do and it suited her), another woman in our group was revolted and states that she "looks like a dyke."
I was a bit taken aback by the bigoted slur but also because it's a reaction that I've only ever heard from alpha-male d-bags (you know the guy I'm talking about) at meat market type bars back in the 90s. So I know that there are guys who have a fetish for long hair (and short) which explains those guys. But it's surprising to hear a woman take such a strong stance.
What about you?
Do you feel strongly either way or is the length of the hair not really important to you?

I'm envious of women who can pull off pixie cuts. I have a very long face, so virtually every hairstyle looks terrible on me, but short hairstyles are a resounding never in a million fucking years.

I have really nice hair, but there's very little I can do with it that will in turn flatter my face. Grr.

Of course, that's only with the girls who can pull it off, but when they do, they pull it off!

In fact, I might just have a bit of a thing for girls with shaved, cropped or partially cropped hair.

Of course, those hairstyles are usually only favoured by lesbians. Ah, it's a cruel world.

Quite the opposite. I think short hair on women is incredibly attractive. Some women I know have it cut short because they hate managing long hair or for practical reasons like work.

I have a slight preference for short hair over really long hair. It's mostly just the medium length I don't care for, not that I dislike that, but it generally doesn't add anything either.

I,for one, have relatively long hair, which won me quite a bit of scrutiny. The school I go to has a policy against guys with short hair. A policy which I disregarded quite blatantly. They gave up after 2 months of trying to force me into getting it cut.

I kind of can't deal with my hair long, it's very curly and it extremely annoying to deal with long.
It's past my shoulders now, so I want to get it cut as soon as I can. Maybe I'll post a picture and you can let me know if I can pull it off.

To be honest, when I'm getting my hair cut, whether guys like it is the last thing on my mind. I'm more like: `Yes! No more long annoying hair that everybody wants me to straighten because fuck that`.

Define "Short"

If you mean "Short" in the sense of about shoulder length maybe a bit shorter, then no, I don't find that unattractive.

If you mean "Short" as in really short (I.E. Emma Watson when she cut it real short, not up to date whether it's still like that...) then I depends... Some people can pull it off, while others just can't.

I tend to favour more towards the shoulder length hair, but it's not that important really... Just like Hair colour (I favour certain colours but not exclusively)

I'd probably say that the really short hair falls into the same category as Red heads; not what I'm directly into, but when someone pulls it off, they do it extremely well...

On topic, I actually prefer women who suit short hair over women who suit long hair. I like athletic, 'tomboyish', women covered in tattoos and piercings, though, so my tastes aren't by any means representative of the general consensus. (Not that I've ever had a girlfriend like that, *grr grr*...)

I prefer longer hair, but it's really case by case basis, i've seen some women with shorter hair that look absolutely amazing. also, not sure what counts as the line between long and short, shoulder length?

Well, obviously everyone should have the hairstyle he/she wants to have, but I personally absolutly don't like short hair on women. Sure, some chicks are look great nonetheless, but to me thats more often despite and not because of the short hairs.

Love 'em. Short-haired girls, I mean. Really, long hair styles are starting to feel archaic to me, both on women and men. I stopped growing my hair out long because I eventually realized you don't have to stand out physically to look unique. That, and it's a total pain in the ass in hot weather or while showering.

Some women can be close to bald and still be much more attractive than the majority. (Natalie Portman ,Subject Zero, Joslyn James.) So no, I don't think that long hair is that attractive. If a woman can pull of the bald or close-to-bald look, then I find that more attractive.

I actually prefer short hair on girls a lot more than long hair. In my case I think that has to do with the Oedipus complex.
