Poll: Do you hold open doors?

I hold open the door if someone is close behind me, or they're carrying something heavy, or if I'm actually walking with them. Even if there is no one behind me, I'll give the door an extra push, so that it stays open a bit longer.

Of course I do, it only takes a few extra seconds and I know how small but nice it feels to have that happen.

Unless I have my tuba on and I have to carry it odd to get through a doorway. If that happens, ***** can open the door themselves.

Sure, for one person behind me, if that person is within a reasonable distance. It's polite and sice politeness doesn't cost anything there is no reason not to do it.

It's common courtesy to hold the door open for someone. Unless I'm in a hurry, or the door has an automatifc sequence, I always hold the door open for people close by...

Always. I'm almost as bad as that tall red guy in that one Episode of Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends.

(For the unitiated - He held the door open for people at a supermarket for an entire episode.)

Of course not! I enjoy the sight of someone being tormented by a door closing in their face! Seriously though, yeah, I do - it's polite and I like it when someone does it for me.

Depends how far away they are,
I don't want to stand there for 10secs holding a door open, as I'd look redikky,
however if someone's within say 10ft of me, then sure.

Of cource I hold the doors open for people, but not if they are too far away it would just be a waste of time.

I always do. I leave early just so I can hold the door at the bottom of the stairs in school.

Unless I'm running late for something, I always hold the door.

It's only common courtesy. If someone's a long ways away, I probably won't stand there, but up to 6 yards away, I'll hold the door.
It's especially nice just with the smug satisfaction that I've defied the stereotype that plagues the people of my age group.

It's pretty much an automatic response. I wish more people would thank me though.

I do to, but living in Finland no one ever say thanks, we're quite repressed in that way. Never show any kind of emotion or something similar... Although one time a girl actually said "thank you" and I felt like a saint for the rest of the day

It takes like zero effort on my part and it's just polite.
Within reason, naturally.

Oh absolutely. Mainly for my girlfriend- for the most part I basically dont even let her open doors so I can for her, haha. I do hold open the door if there are a few last people coming through and I want to be kind. Its just part of being a gentleman.
