I can't really vote because there's no option for what I do, but I only invert depending on the individual game. I always invert on flight sims though.

25, not inverted. As I mentioned in another thread, the only time I invert the Y-axis is when I'm playing a flight sim with a joystick. Inverting the Y-axis feels natural in that scenario, but in any other it just feels weird.

19 and invert. Seems completely counterintuitive to do it any other way, actually. I tend to run around like a complete fool looking at the sky if I take the controller from somebody who plays with a non-inverted y-axis.

Well frankly, there is a pretty obvious correlation: The older one is, the more likely it is they will prefer inverted. Look at the ratio increase between each age group.

5% 13-16
10% 16-19
18% 20-24
36% 25+

(rounded, and at time of writing)

It's nearly a geometric increase.

Twenty-eight and normal except for flight sims.

19, not inverted. Though I do play quite a few flying games with an inverted axis(whats the plural of axis? Axii. Axises, Axis'?).

I can usually switch between inverted/non-inverted fairly easily, so yeah. I'm just awesome like that.

/ego boost
The plural form is axes. Yes, you use the same word if you have more than one ax or more than one axis. English is one screwy language.

But is it inverted if that's the way it's meant to be? (With regard to how a real flight-stick works)

What a mindfuck.

That's what I was thinking. It's not as strong of a correlation as I was expecting (I was thinking that by the time you hit 25, it would be over half of the population), but it's a pretty strong correlation all the same. Inverted aim isn't very popular overall, but it's more popular with older gamers.

You have your numbers twice....

Wouldn't have made more sense to say something like 13-16 then 17-20 or whatever instead of 13-16 and 16-20?

Here's my problem. I do both. If a flight sim isn't inverted, I can't play it. When a FPS is inverted, same problem.

Now, I used to play FPS inverted, but now I can't. On one of the OXM demo discs in 2005, I think, there was a demo for Destroy All Humans. There was no option to play inverted in the demo, but I was determined to play it, so I did. I unlearned inverted. Now, I play normal.

Also, my friends are confused by how low I set the sensitivity. Usually lowest, or second lowest setting.

Also, I'm 16. If that helps.

35 and "normal." Although if I'm playing a flight sim, I have to have the controls inverted, I just can't fly it if they're not.

Despite what my profile says, 17 and normal, unless I'm flying something. If you're interested in this, read this [http://twitter.com/#!/thatbarnettblok] twitter feed. A while back he was talking about just this.

Hm, well falling into this poll's minority was probably the best that could expected.
To me inversion simply feels organic and real seeing as looking down means you have to bend your neck/head forwards: a motion I like to capture in the analog stick.

I'm 23 and only invert for flight controls. It's been weird going back and playing Majora's Mask which has inverted aiming for the first-person bits (blowing bubbles and arrow shooting).

Like I said though: I prefer to keep my FPS action un-inverted.
