The culture is really nice (from what I've been told - my aunt's husband is german and they go every year or so - his hometown is near/in Bavaria, I think) and it's really picturesque. And the food. Food.... mmmm.
I always want to pack up and move to Germany whenever my aunt comes around with pictures. Her husband is from a town of a few hundred people, though, so it's the perfect little german red-roofed town.
They seem to be very hard working from all the ones I have met (most of the Germans here in Manitoba came over in the 60's to train at our military base or have been here for 100+ years, though).
My views are probably really skewed, though, having never been there.
