Poll: Do you like the Jim Inquisition show?

The first one was so awful I could barely watch it, the second one was just boring and covered a topic everyone has covered before, saying exactly the same things about the topic that everyone has said before.

Also, I've been to Destructoid, and while it's quite true that there can be a fine line between satirical comedy and true sexism, I think Jim is a long way past the line and moving fast.

So basically if he manages to turn it all around by the third episode then I'll still not watch it, but I won't be so annoyed about having it on the Escapist, but if the third episode is just as awful, then it's time to get the complainy stick out again.

Jim seems like he should be saying something substantive, but by the end of the clip, I can't say that I'm particularly enlightened, or even entertained for that matter. Also, I really don't like the crude drawings that randomly pop up. I generally think of the Escapist as a fairly respectable site, but such tactics certainly detract from that perception. As numerous others have already said, I'm not sure what purpose Jimquisition is serving. Lisa Foiles presented harmless, touch-in-cheek fluff. Jim does the same, sans the playful tone and the acknowledgement that he isn't saying much of anything.

Because the escapist started it, with these awful lets get rid of him threads.
From all his tweets they all seem fair, the escapist is an open community normal and one of the best, but for some reason becuase they dont like his show and think it should be banished into the dark.

I dont get why you have to say it should be here if you dont like it, I dont like or watch most the shows and I dont say get rid of them. All in all I enjoy it therfore it should not be stopped.

Should I start threads asking for shows to be removed it only seems fair?

If you're a contributor to this website you're expected to have some restraint and take the good with the bad not lash out like a child when you find out that people don't like you. Their his tweets their not his work, he should be allowed to express himself how he wants, therfore he does. (however his wording is fairly vulgar)
He is like fair enough for him, people are ignorent with the "I dont like him, I want him off" I would express myself like he is.
He is differnt to ZP, EC and MB in this way. If he didnt express himself in this way he wouldent be on this site.

A person who's 'work' is a matter of opinion and then he posts his opinion of others. Surely this would be considered his 'work'. How are people being ignorant by saying they don't like him? I think that would be quite a bit better than spouting off profanity. So he's different because he calls out his audience and insults them? The Escapist represents integrity and Jimquisition does not. One of these things is not like the other ones of these things doesn't belong. Also if you are embracing a person for expressing himself how he wants then you really don't have any call to say that the people commenting on his videos shouldn't be allowed to express themselves however they want.

For the record, I voted "No, I don't care for it."
I'll give it a couple more chances just to see if it gets better, but so far I've found it dull and uninspired and not very funny. I can get behind the things he says (even though they are generally just vague assertions with no real reasoning), but the presentation is just terrible.

I am a huge fan of Jim when he writes articles, but something about it just doesn't translate to video. Maybe it's his unfittingly shrill voice, maybe it's the stupid sunglasses that make him look like a giant beetle, maybe it's the cheesy trying-to-be-Killzone-nazi-symbolist props, but it just doesn't come off as enjoyable to me.

He's alright...nothing brilliant. I wouldn't call him sexist, though. His points are genuine and they do make sense, and his solutions often blindside me, but, there we go. My biggest issue with him is that I can't work out whether my laptop widescreen is stretching him or not.

Also his "work" are the video currently not his tweets which are aimed at people who follow him. Jim also refers to himself as a "****" so I wouldent recomend you take everything he says as offensive.

Side gripe: Why does the Daily Drop exist? I get that its dirt cheap to do and really, really, really, really fucking easy to make (step 1: pick up random object, step 2: drop random object), but seriously... Is it just a way to say "videos posted daily"?

Funny you should mention that. I live for that crowbar!! Remember a few years back there was this big deal about "Will it blend"? I think it's kind of the same deal. People like to see shit get wrecked...Primal nature or something, and you can't deny that it attracts viewers. Specifically on THIS site, I think it's only because of the LRR crew that it remains, personally I miss ENN...

OT: I don't find Jim funny, or even that informative. If you think THESE solutions are good, then you need to try to use your brain a little bit more. I didn't like Liza's top 5 at after the first episode, but I decided to give it a chance (still don't like it after watching a few more) so I somewhat begrudgingly say it still deserves a chance, though if scrapped right now, I can't say the Escapist would we worse off...

Currently though in my opinion I hate this show.

So if I referred to someone as a racial slur and then referred to myself as the same racial slur that makes it acceptable? If the Escapist Staff is fine with him being vulgar then they should be fine with us being vulgar to him.

I don't mind the genre of video he's buying into, the whole rant and rave opinion show, that's fine. I love Escape to the Movies, Zero Punctuation, Extra Credits, even Lisa Foiles' Top 5, which has comparatively less substance. What bothers me about Jim's show is the production. He's got poor audio quality and his videos are painful to look at. Compare that to the simple but effective ZP Imp, or the art and design of Extra Credits and he comes up miles short. I mean hell, both Jim and Daniel from Extra Credits spend most of their time standing center screen speaking at us, but the visuals are just not pleasant with Jim. And this isn't because Jim is a fat, sweaty man. There are tons of fat sweaty people who are both engaging and funny. Jim just ends up looking like an uncomfortably anxious and upset mess in front of the camera and it puts the viewer off. I think his writing could use a little work as well, but it doesn't bother me nearly as much as the production quality of his show. People have said he's a troll, well, ok, but he doesn't belong here where we have such well put together discussion shows. He looks like a grade school science project in a room full of professional tech experts. He needs to up his game before I can take him seriously.

To make this constructive:
1. Improve his audio. Too much breathy static.
2. Improve visuals. Knock off the poorly drawn dicks and stupidity. He can still use them every so often for effect (Yahtzee does and it works) but don't make that a staple.
2.5. Change up his presentation. Don't let the camera sit on him for the whole 7 minutes while he sweats and screws up his lines. Vary it up, use some tasteful editing. Maybe other angles?
3. Generally tighten up the speech itself. This might be an illusion because the shots are so long that it just seems to ramble on and on, but he needs to keep it tight, clipped and to the point. The jokes can be punchier, his delivery could be better. There is room to improve.

As it is now, I can't stand this show. But it isn't out of reach for him to start playing with the big kids. Even then, not sure I'd buy into it. But who knows.

I'll stick to the higher etiquette and knowledge and understanding of the industry that is Extra Credits, one that tries to educate and support the industry, not bash and insult it. I hope this doesn't become a regular as i always saw The Escapist as a website with quite high standards and class - this guy clearly has none.
Sure Yahtzee doesn't always show that but he's entertaining and just trying to critic games, he still comes across as trying to help, and certainly doesn't seem like he thinks he is god's gift to the medium and we should get in line.
Sure Movie Bob can come across a bit Rant-ey too but once again he does it in an entertaining 'this is my opinion and heres why' kind of way - as aposed to a I AM RIGHT kinda way. We've got all the opinionated people we need on this website. And they're a hell of a lot better than this guy.
