I have one ... haven't gotten around to actually throwing it out yet so it just collects dust at the bottom of the closet o.o The thing weighs like 40 kilos so stuffed if I'm moving it by myself <.,

Yup, still have a 27" standard definition TV. It still works great for watching TV, and I only have a few 360 games. The resolution becomes a hassle at times, but the only time it's really annoyed me was on Dead Rising, and Deathspank where the difference between a 3 and a 5 becomes really fuzzy. I've played games on a 52" plasma TV, and honestly it doesn't seem any different. Numbers are a bit clearer, but the game still looks the same, but bigger and more stretched out. I'll just stick to my PC for now anyway.
I keep an SD in around to play my old consoles on, gamecube games just don't look right stretched out of proportion on a huge screen.
yea thats pretty much the only reason ive been saving for an hdtv. i mean better resolution would be nice but i think the graphics look just fine on standard definition. its the text that kills me. if i need to read a mission objective or look at a map on the pause screen or navigate a blue ray menu, its a complete guessing game. when i played the darkness, i couldnt read any of my missions or where to go next, so i would spend hours and hours wandering around, hoping i would bump into my next mission objective. at least its comforting to know that im not aloneViaticalTarsier said:
I got a HD TV last year, because I had the money for one. It's nice (samsung LED Series 5, fairly big) and it certainly makes watching movies and TV shows and documentaries a lot better, but I don't think it improves games all that much. Besides, I hook my PS3/360 to a computer monitor, which has better resolution (although the picture isn't as big) and I advise anyone who cares about resolution to do the same.
But SD suited my gaming purposes for years and years and never caused me any harm. Indeed, keeping an SD TV around can be good - PS1 games look AWFUL on HD TVs, believe me. FFIX looked SO BAD on my HD TV, I had no choice but to repurchase it for the PSP on PSN, where it is at least bearable.
If you don't have the money, don't upgrade. It's not worth being in debt for. And if you do have the money, by all means buy a HD TV. Just make sure it's a good one.

In my house, there are three average-sized CRT TV sets, a 65" rear-projection HD widescreen, and four 30-40" 1080p LCDs. I think my sister is the only one that uses SDTVs anymore, though. I know I won't be going back; I love being able to see my games.
I do have one. In fact, it's my only tv. I just don't use it a lot because my ps3 is hooked up to my pc monitor.

Did last year, but since that was someone elses TV in a communal student house, it didn't leave with me and it's kinda hard to buy a new SD TV these days.
My PC monitor itself is a TV, which was much cheaper than buying a monitor of an equivalent size. I could've saved more by sticking my 360 in this, but my lounge kinda needs a TV anyway.TooMiserableToLive said:
Not anymore. My old SDTV killed itself over-dramatically in July, since then I've had a ...I think it's a 36" HD jobby. Couldn't get a bigger sized screen, else it wouldn't fit in the alcove in our lounge... It works, that's the main thing.
