I prefer to have games on Steam.
Origin I will avoid, but will get if I need to (doubt it though).
I refused to support any game with always-on DRM. Which is why I'm not sad at all about STALKER 2.

No, if a DRM annoys me i can always remove it, didn't need to do that lately, but i keep the tools to do it in some cases where i couldnt play my games if my internet connection went down.

Somewhere between 1 and 2. If I wasn't sure if I was getting the game in the first place, then any DRM at all is going to count against it. If it's a game I really really wanted to play, then it will only matter if it's really fucked up, such as always-on, limited install, anything that says Ubisoft on it, that kind of thing.

Someones going to need to explain this to me in captain dummy talk and tell me why this "DRM" thing is so horrible. I see threads like this all the time and it usually ends up in a total uproar of violent posts. "I HATE DRM!!" "I won't buy this game because it has DRM"

It's my primitive understanding that DRM is something like needing STEAM to install Team Fortress 2. okay, kind of inconvenient but if I didn't need to do the same for Empire: Total War I never would have downloaded STEAM at all, which would have been awful because now it's currently one of my favourite programs.

Yes it does. I'm noting buying Diablo 3 because of it's forced online. I refuse to be treated like I'm a criminal.

Yep. I didn't get Red Alert 3 on PC until years later when it was on Steam with that SecuROM bullshit removed. Anything with an always online requirement can go get bent after C&C4 (everyone keeps saying "I don't care because I'm always online anyway". wake the hell up and realize that the problem is the COMPANY not keeping the servers on all the time, so half the time I wanted to play the fucking game, I couldn't because their server was a piece of shit). Anything that requires Origin can get bent. I will not bend over backwards and put up with all this bullshit just to try and prove I own a game that I paid for.

I also won't pirate it though. Pirates are the reason we have this crap, and all those people who say "Screw it, I'm going to pirate the game and play without DRM", you're just as shitty as EA, Ubisoft, and others for helping make this happen. Thanks for ruining a lot of games due to your own greed.

I find it funny that people ***** constantly about "always online" DRM but allow themselves to suspend their "hate" when it comes to Steam. Seriously thats sad.
Steam doesn't require you to always be online, so how is that sad? If Steam required that, I wouldn't use it. The only thing sad here is that you're making stuff up to try and insult people.

Depends on the extent/sort of DRM. Online passes, while annoyinger than fuck, are ultimately just that to me: annoying. So they don't dissuade me. But if I have to use Origin to play it, I'm not going to buy the game no matter what. Mostly because of the "we get to look around and monitor your computer for whatever" clause rather than any DRM thing.

In general, though, no, DRM does not affect my purchasing habits that much.

depends on the DRM but thats why i havent bought starcraft 2. i dont buy 60 dollor games on steam for the same reason, if a game sucks or i just dont like it i should be able to recoup my money by selling it.

Yep. I will no longer buy any Ubisoft games or EA games due to their DRM, which is a shame, because I was interested in going back and playing ACII and getting ME3 for the PC. Now I absolutely will not due to DRM.

Simply put yes. If I dislike the DRM, generally because it's too draconian, I will not purchase it. I have yet to buy another Ubisoft game since AC2 even though I'd like to play subsequent Assassin's Creed games. If the DRM punishes me without offering something back then it's a no go for me.

I actually have more of a problem with Batman using GFWL than secureROM. The amount of save games GFWL has killed for me.
If you look in the files you can find those save games. It's just that when you log in the game looks for saves in the account folder instead of some other folder. Just click and drag them in to the account and you should be good to go. I had to do this with Fallout 3.

Back on Topic. I don't mind DRM as long as I can play LAN with my brothers. Not necessarily steam's fault, but I'd love to play L4D LAN, but I refuse to buy 2 more copies of it to do so. Wish there was a LAN option...

I will almost never buy a game for its DLC. However, some games have DLC that is so amazing that I will totally buy it if I already have the base game.

Undead Nightmare and BFBC2 Vietnam, I'm lookin at you!

EDIT: Oh, shit. DRM. I thought it said DLC.

Ummm...yeah. It totally affects my purchase, though it depends on the level and severity of the DRM.

If it's like SPORE or assassin's creed 2 pc DRM, then the game can go fuck itself.

I'll never, ever purchase a game with always-on DRM (Diablo 3, I'm looking at you). I might be moving into a new apartment in the next few months, and I'll be damned if I won't be able to get access to my single-player game (in which I have no intention of interacting with other players at all if I can help it) because I can't afford a decent internet connection.

There have been a couple games I haven't bought because of the DRM, but to be honest if I want it enough I will forgive a fair bit.
I didn't buy Dragon Age 2 because I had a hell of a time getting all my downloads to activate with the first one. I did PLAY it, but only after a friend of mine had finished and lent me his laptop. They literally cost themselves a day 1 sale and i didn't miss out on anything. I did buy Mass Effect 2 because i think it is one of the best things to come out in quite a while, Origin however will be a deal breaker, probably a "borrowing my buddies laptop" again situation.
I have started coming around on Steam as they have drastically improved the "bad packet" install issues that come with inferior internet but I still find it is a poorly made interface.

Honestly there is just too much on the market for me to take a gamble on something essentially defective by design. I will buy from a company that does not feel the need to limit my playtime or spy on me.

Yes.
Anything with TAGES I will NOT purchase. I refuse to pay 40+ for a game and than have to haggle with a support rep for another key because my hardware profile changed to many times.
Some games have slipped past me with it though, blasted Steam.

Anything that requires Origin I will NOT purchase, because EA are complete bastards.

I use Steam and would happily praise it as the best drm there is, possibly because i don't really consider it drm, but pretty much all other drm i've either had a bad experience with or just refuse to touch with a bargepole.
Games for Windows Live i tolerated because I enjoyed W40k, but that was it.
Origin I have an account by default because I used to have an EA account, but I refuse to use it because of the appalling terms of service. If I ever feel like playing BF3 (unlikely at this point in time), i'll do it on a platform that doesn't use it.
The rest of them can pretty much be removed or overridden (I bought it, I can do what the hell I want).

Not really, but it can be a minor factor in the decision when I'm not sure about it. Example would the The Old Republic. The fact that it comes with Origin is a point against it in a not very positive tally to begin with, but it's not in the least decisive.
