Heck, I have 6 dragons sitting on my desk right now, and more in another room.
Can you recall how many you have in all? I have 18 if you count my painting.
Lets see...I think about 10. 2 are relatively small pictures of paintings, the rest are statuettes, one of which I painted myself.

EDIT: And on a side note, I have uncounted dragon cards from my days playing M:TG.

I sort of used to think it would be cool if they existed though man would probably be subservient a lá reign (I think it was reign maybe rain) of fire (which by all acounts is a bad movie but an intresting concept). That was until I found out about "otherkin", their furry style persecution complex and their generic arguement response of "FYIaD" to every criticism.
FYIaD= "Fuck You I'm a Dragon"

It's also annoying that every other fantasy book HAS to have dragons.
That's because they are awesome.

I absolutely adore dragons, to be short about it.

I have read each of the Inheritance Books so far (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr); I hated the Eragon movie (but loved the design of Saphira).
Ditto.

No, this is not about 'Oh, where do you think they're hiding? Let's go hunting!' This more of, 'Hey! We like dragons! We should talk about why we like them or something cool involving them!'

Anyone else like dragons? I like them because I like reptiles even though they have the Grim Reaper on speed dial in case I touch them. Having them fly around would brighten anyone's day.
In the recent events I found that Dragon-stuff is sort of "Girly"-stuff. Girls put me off the topic for good.
Really? Liking dragons as a little girl got me socially ostracized by all but the few other weird people...
two things:
1. in my experience the weird and socially ostracized people are the cool ones, beside if you aren't weird you're normal, and normal is boring

2. if i could find a girl as into dragons and fantasy as i am, believe me, there would be no social ostracizing
I certainly would not have made fun of her either. I was the DnD geek playing in the library at lunch time. We finished some damn good campaigns in the short time of lunch.

I know, but when people generally think of girly (not trying to be sexist, just going by public) they imagine pink, cute, and adorably. Not giant, blood-thirsty, armored beast that could destroy a good chunk of the continent before breakfast.
I prefer my giant, blood thirsty, armored beast to also be pink, cute and adorable thank you

Smaug the Dragon was the original badass monster for me, as the Hobbit was the first novel length book I ever read.

Even now I still enjoy reading the sections with him in it. He's such a smug asshole, and he knows that he could murder the entire world if he felt like it.

I'm still mostly annoyed that it always HAS to be a dragon at the end of a game that is the big boss. Not only cause it has ruined the original nature of the dragon, as others have pointed out, but because it stereotypes dragons as the monstrous sized flying flame breathing creatures that only a tiny percent of them where. All through Human culture dragons can be found and guess what: They are just as varied as humans are.

In most cultures they where adored for the wisdom that such long lived creatures naturally accumulate. Only us in the West could take such a noble, adored and beautiful creature and make stories where it is the bad guy while some *removed* wearing armour and fighting in the name of a god that has called for the death of billions is suddenly the good guy.

I kid you not, find the original story of St. Gorge for a good example of this. The dragon did nothing wrong but move into an area that had humans in it in that story. Humans got into their heads that they needed to sacrifice a noble blooded woman to this dragon, he never asked for it, or else they would be slaughtered completely. Waiting till he wasn't home they staked her out side and fled. Now at this point I could forgive George, who comes along and frees her but it is what happens next that gets to me. The dragon returns, is stunned to find a scantly clad woman and a knight but AGREES to go back to the human city willingly. There George murders the dragon in cold blood to appease the mob, the evil *removed*....

I love to kill them in Monster Hunter mainly, but meh, over time, I grew tired of Dragons to be honest, more of a hamster/cat person =D

Smaug.

All that needs to be said.

However, I play Dungeons and DRAGONS, and we incredibly rarely use dragons in campaigns. Why?

Because by the time you're powerful enough to fight a dragon that actually does reasonable damage with its breath weapon, you own your own fortress and small army and are busy fighting the forces of Baalzamon and Mephistopheles.

I agree, dragons aren't evil, as a dragon fan, I actually don't like things like D&d because of this, they say all colored dragons are evil while all metallic are good, and that's just wrong. No creature is "pure evil" or "pure good" it's just writers looking for an easy and cool villain.

Ironically enough D&d is starting to correct this by saying colored dragons are just more "temperamental"

Why do I always have to say this? DnD is not a solid "These are the rules, you have to follow them," deal. A DM can do whatever they want to the campaign, and if the DM wants a red dragon that enjoys drinking tea, petting kittens and healing the poor, then so be it.
I wasn't going entirely on the rules or the players, I was actually referring to the books they write as separate to the game.

There are pink sparkly dragons.
OF THIS I DO NOT DOUBT, because I have no faith in the human race.
If they see awesome, they try to make it more awesome. They just don't know when to leave shit alone. Dragons are inherently cool,

Like that. You gots issues.
...Could you put it in a skirt?
Ok so they DON'T HAVE to be pink, but cute is an added bonus, you know sort of like the appeal of lion cubs, they are cute, but they can also rip your face off.

Woops, I pressed Enter and then it just posted...

Anyway, you mean something like [a href=http://www.profil3.com/blog/profil3_com-blog-7126-1.jpg]THIS?[/a]

Also, the books are not important, what's important is what the DM wants from the books. The books are just guidelines.
Hmm... yes that's exactly the cute and blood thirsty combination that I was talking about, these are adorable :)

And it's a shame the books don't matter because I will still fill their pockets with my money since the pictures are so pretty...
