I prefer dubs since having to take the time to read the subtitles kinda takes away from the experience in my opinion.

I disagree, It's actually quite good. You get to see action, hear how they say it, and it's actually fine. It's like reading a book, but you see who's saying it without confusion, and it's not just describing the action. The pros out-weigh the cons.

depends. Some the dub is awful, (One Piece) so I'd rather watch the sub. Others I think are better dubbed, like Cowboy Bebop. Then there are some where I'll watch either, if they're both good.

Dubs are better when they are made by professional voice actors.

I take a certain offense to that, though mostly from the apparent tone you give the word "Japanophile." I do not know Japanese all that well, but I know enough to enjoy (and prefer) the tone of voice that Japanese voice actors give Japanese (or Japanese designed) characters (almost always better than dubbed English) and understand enough to not have to constantly read subtitles.

As for missing action...*shrugs* I've always been a fast reader, so I've never found myself missing any action, even when I was a complete newb at Japanese. And frankly, most English anime adaptations (with some notable exceptions) lose much of the amusing Japanese cultural references and replace them with terrible English "equivalents" (that often carry none of the meaning of the original reference).

If you honestly believe that the 4Kids dub of Yu-Gi-Oh (which I watched subbed) was better than the subbing done by various fansubbers, I have a bridge to sell you. It was decent (not good, decent) in Japanese; 4Kids murdered it with fire and poison, a neurotoxin secreted by their terrible "professional" voice actors and freewheeling editors convinced it was a kids' show. (It wasn't, it would have gotten a "TV-14" rating if it had been faithfully recreated.)

If a desire to understand and appreciate another culture completely alien to the one I've grown up in makes me a "Japanophile," I'll wear that badge with pride.

Subs. Very, very few dubbers can capture the same effect as the original voice acting. In fact, the only series off the top of my head where the dub was better than the original was Dragonball Z. Most of the time they're mediocre, and they can also get pretty bad.

Sub. I like a good dub every now and then, but subs are harder to fuck up than a dub (see: Naruto. Love the Japanese anime, despise the American version). Most subbing groups do their job well, and I prefer it raw. Plus the voices tend to make more sense than everyone sounding American (obviously there are exceptions to this rule)

Totally depends. I'm watching GITS dubbed now because some of the subs are absolutely atrocious, and I watched TTGL subbed because the dubs were unbearable.

In movies though I prefer the audio to be in the original language, as I started a thread about not too long ago.

That is so annoying. I've only watched 3 episodes and it's already pissing me off.

I usually prefer dubbed, I find it difficult to concentrate on the action when I have to read to understand what they're saying. That ^ is the exception though.

I watch basically everything with subtitles anyway these days, that way if someone comes into my room and talks at me, they don't make me have to rewind to see what the characters said as I can read and talk at the same time.

Well English voice actors always make the characters sound like
a) Small children
b)Sexual predators

Examples: a)Naruto and b)Bleach, honestly I'm seriously disturbed by the English voices for the characters of those two animes. So I prefer to watch the Japanese version with subtitles.

Depends on the dub. Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass have good dubs, and I generally don't mind them in general, but bad dubs definitely exist (like Nanoha's, for one [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVCoN3_EOHU]. As a fan, I strongly advise you to watch it subbed).

I generally watch subtitled anime, however, except for the occasion I get it on Netflix instead of online.
