My fellow Escapists, we all know that the mega-publishers are the very symbol of corporate greed in the gaming industry. But which publisher in your opinion is more evil and why do you think so?

EA! For making you create hundreds upon thousands of accounts to play games online. I wasted 100 bucks on Battlefield 2142 since it wouldn't accept my account when i reinstalled it. And i wasted another 20 on the phone to EA trying to fix the problem(which they didn't.)

For me, EA may be more frustrating with their infamous hype machine and their constant remakes of sports and Sims games, but Activision's antics over Brutal Legend and their lethargic money siphoning in WOW are proof enough that they are more evil to me.

EA they take good games and make bad games. Oh, also turn out the same sports games year after year.

Why is Activision evil again? I forgot.

Till I get an answer I will go with EA since they screwed over the C&C games.

I guess the more evil one would be the richer one. EA makes those damn sports games every single year along with everything else they publish, so I guess they're richer than Activision.

I don't know much about Activision, but I do know EA gets criticized a lot. It's also easy to make fun of their old slogan (from "Challenge Everything" to "We Own Everything"). Their slogan for EA Sports also sounds kinda dumb ("It's in the GAME").

I went with both, EA for 95% of their gaming catlog and InActivision for re-living nazi germany and red armies for the 4 out of 5 COD games released. I know it's Infinity Ward and Treyarch's fault but mother Activison needs to slap baby's hand on that one.

Activision is hated for milking the Guitar Hero franchise, EA is hated for milking The Sims (so...many...expansion packs!), milking every sport series they own and Spore's DRM scandal. I think EA deserves it more I guess, but I think both are alright, EA is actually trying out new things, and Activision simply didn't do a lot of things wrong I think.

EA because I paid £50 for Mirror's edge because i was told it was better than the best thing ever, and i couldn't get a refund because i already installed it. Stupid EA. They also earn more money than Kenya from those sports games they release every year.

You're right about EA's infamous milking and hype promotions. Still, I've heard some horror stories coming out of the WoW forums over Activision's handling of things over there now.

While I'm eagerly waiting for SW:TOR, I knw that it's just another aspect of the dick waving competition between EA and Activision. Why else would EA enlist BioWare and throw ludicrous amounts of money at them to make an MMO? Simple. They want to take a bite out of Activision's monopoly on the MMO market.

At this very moment, i'd say Activision. EA seem to be improving. Although, have fun trying to redeem the booster packs for BF2! Their online account system(s!!!) are extremely messy.

Ummm, what have activision done to even be on the same scale as EA?
They had a merger with blizzard I guess, but we still see blizzard games, and as best as I can tell there has been no major quality drop.
Bioware/Westwood..I'm not listing them all here.
Look, EA are notorious not only for releasing shit games year after year, releasing half games then selling the other half to you through expanions packs and not properly supporting their games (things that Activision is perhaps partially guilty of, although I wouldn't claim on anywhere near the scale of EA), but also of buying out and gutting some of the best game companies we've ever seen.

I don't know if 'Evil' is the right word. 'Successful' maybe because if a company has lots of money that alone does not make them evil tools, it means they run a business damn well. Besides EA has been trying to make new games recently, I can't really comment of Activision though.

I don't know whats the problem that people have with those sportgames. Yes, they are repetitive, but no one forces you to buy them. As long as there is a market and people interested in them, why shouldn't EA make them?
Given, I 've never played one of them, but I don't see why everyone hates EA for them.
Hating them for their drm schemes, that is something I can understand.

Both will burn.

EA for ruining WAR. And publishing crappy sport games every year, without any improvements.

Activision for releasing Prototype and then saying there will be absolutely no support after release. No DLC, no patches, no cheats. Also, they lied about the leg quest... and few other things.

The term evil is questionnable. Corrupted from business I think is a better way to describe it.
