Diablo 3 isn't out yet. Hoping it makes release this year for Christmas, but knowing Blizzard, doubtful. Might pick up Sacred 2 till then.Rodger said:I'm also willing to try a demo for/rent Oblivion, Sacred 2, and Diablo 3. Diablo 3 especially since I'd love to know what makes that game so popular. And Oblivion for that matter since that one especially looks incredibly boring. I have little interest in Bioware's RPG's outside of Mass Effect, though. I bought Neverwinter Nights 2 thinking "Hey! D&D! That should be good!" and now I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. Maybe the cd would make a nice frisbee...
A lot of them did become Troika, however Urquhart and Avellone (PS:T and FO2) became ObsidianArchaeology Hat said:I was under the impression that the operative and important parts of Black Isle became Trokia entertainment, which went bust a few years back, I'll concede that Obsidion makes some, relatively good games (NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer... how did they company that made NWN2 make such a good game. Lionhead doesn't really develop Western RPGs it develops Western Morality games, of which 2 are technically RPGs and 2 are God-Games. Activision-Blizzard makes WoW and Diabolo, Diabolo has always been the slightly thick cousin that people keep around because he's a good laugh from time to time of the Western RPG genre. WoW isn't an RPG, its an MMORPG, the 3 first letters of the acronym are suprisingly important, the genre has diverged greatly from its CRPG roots.Altorin said:a majority of Black Isle became Obsidian Entertainment, and they still make RPGs. Activision-Blizzard also makes RPGs. Bethesda Softworks does, Lionhead as well.. I can't remember any other developers of Western RPGs off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are more.Archaeology Hat said:Its unfortunate that with the demise of Trokia (Black isle), the only big name stuido making actual RPG Western games is Bioware really, Bethsoft made some pretty awesome RPGs, but Oblivion was a big disapointment.

Oh hey, then I guess I've already tried ERPGs. Not so much my cup of tea, though some were actualy amusing.iain62a said:New Troll said:I would definitely try ERPGs!
Just so you know, ERPG is the acronym for erotic role playing game.
I agree. It may just be because there are more WRPG fans on the site, but it seems to me that WRPG fans insult JRPG's more than the JRPG fans insult WRPG's. For someone who prefers JRPG's to WRPG's (but not by much, I love both), it can be a little tough to take.PedroSteckecilo said:What no "both" option,
Must we turn this into a flame war? Really?
Both sides of the coin have their good games, their mediocre games, and their complete crap. Anyone who says otherwise probably has no idea what they're talking about.
EDIT:
I voted for JRPG's, not because I think they're better, but because I hate the WRPG "Fans" on this site. More often than not they are jerks who don't know jack shit about that which they claim to hate, make broad, baseless statements and brown nose Yahtzee like their lives depended on it.
