Generally speaking, it's a no.
Some guys can pull off the sexy trimmed beard look but they're usually ridiculously good-looking anyway.
It's so itchy too, like, beard rash is the worst.
That's just an initial thing, once you get past that, you have a portable cat strapped to your face.

On another note, I also prefer them to shave their balls as well or anywhere else they want kissed. A mouthful of hair is not appetizing or sexy.
I think this is actually an extremely fair point if you expect women to keep their garden trimmed.
However, on beards: I think perhaps "intentially trying to repulse a parter" is a little extreme of a discription and breaking up because it isn't exactly trying to make the relationship work either.
OT: Originally, I hated the fact that I could grow a beard, especially as I grow really thick hair and really quickly. All of my other mates wanted beards, but none of them could grow them, then I met my (now) wife and grew a beard when I was courting her as she loves facial hair, now I wouldn't do with out it, a well groomed beard looks fucking dapper, and keeps your face warm in the winter. So yeah, resouding yay from me. What does annoy me is when people say "Oh growing a beard is for lazy people", like buggery, I need to groom it almost every day and it takes care and attention, being clean shaven is fucking easy.
Strangely even as a straight guy, Chris Hemsworth as Thor is damn fine, but when he loses the beard, he's nowhere near as attractive...it's wierd.
