OK, haven't completed the game yet due to a broken PC, but were there ultimately forced stealth sections? That would be terrible, I never thought the game was designed for stealth, beyond ducking behind a rock until the convoy is near enough to detonate. Although ultimately my tactic changed to either
A) Leaving a jeep covered in explosives on the road, waiting till they got near and rocket launchering that shit
B) Driving said jeep down a big hill towards the convoy, jumping out at the last moment, detonate, run in and flame-thrower any survivors.

I know they were technically shit, but my word I did enjoy those missions.

The only stealthy thing I did was hide out on a nearby rock to scout a base for health, ammo, etc (IMO not that useful a feature). Then I bombed the place with grenades, set it alight and picked off the rest with a shotgun. You can only stealth kill 1 person before you're found out.

I tried to play stealthy through most of the game. Sneaking up on people isn't really a problem, but taking one out without getting the rest of the base on your ass is pretty damn impossible regardless of what weapons you're using.

So usually I sneak up to a place where I feel I can do as much damage as possible to them, by blowing something up or sniping multiple enemies within close proximity to each other. Then I pull out a machine gun to take out any enemies that get too up-close and personal with me.

The stealthing certainly wasn't impossible but it did require a fair amount of patience and a lot of headshotting...headshooting...shooting people in the head. I found that if you were careful you could sneak around well enough but if you let anyone make any sort of noise when killing them, everyone immediately knew where you were and it was impossible to escape in a stealthy way. Most of the time I would sneak into an enemy camp, then about half way in get caught and have to fight my way out. Despite that I preferred to stealth my way through the game because it felt more genuine and interesting and provided much more of a challenge.

I wouldn't call it "awful" but I certainly wouldn't get into some sort feud over it, as seems to have happened here.

I had camo, the silent MP5 and makarov. I approached when they're was no guards in the area. But apparently my guy had a fucking neon sign above him as 2 trucks hauled ass straight onto my head from the ledge above me then an army came up from the small ledge I just came from.
I then refused to pick up the game without setting IED's everywere and going boom if someone approached me.

I thought that the stealth was pretty much non-existent, only applicable when hiding behind cover, until I got the Camo suit. Holy crap, the game got 10x times better, being able to actually sneak up and machete enemies or sneak by outposts without incidents. It was my first purchase on my second playthrough.
The Camo Suit DOES help quite a lot, as does the cover of nightfall. For an improvment in stealth gameplay, get the CS, and wait at a safehouse for night.

The Stealth in Farcry 2 only passes if you have the camo suit, because i remember before getting the suit sneaking into a railyard by hopping down some nearby cliffs, Machet(e?)ing a man, only to have EVERY guy in the place start shooting at me.

So, from what I read, you made this thread out of pure spite for one users opinion?

Grow up. Reported.

The only time stealth was even remotely possible in that game was on the weapons convoy ambushes, but it was hard to avoid an all out firefight after you blew the truck unless you had a clear escape plan that you could execute within five seconds of blowing up the truck.

This game had numerous problems, the stealth wasn't one of them. (It was odd how much easier stealth got when you bought the camo though)

It has stealth? The A.I. could always see me even though I was behind two cars, a mile of African brush, and a tree.
Why have you typed 'a mile of African bush' and 'a tree' separately?
Isn't the tree included with or part of the African bush?

stealth was hard but it actually worked if you were good and stayed low (not running and shooting tends to help)
although its really inconsistent... so yeah it pretty much sucked :p

worked wonders for me as a sniper, just take out half the guys before they see you and then they proceed to run towards you on that big open field..... without cover :D

Non-sodding-existent! You might as well have been running around in a neon outfit, shouting through a megaphone and all the trigger-happy drones wearing thermal vision goggles! Even the 'stealth upgrade' did bugger all to improve this.
