I'm sorry to hijack this thread into a hateful rant, but 28 Days Later is NOT a zombie movie.
Sure, it has a whole bunch of similar themes and shizzle, but The Infected, as they are called, are not reanimated corpses that feast on the flesh of the living.
Zombies: Dead, want to eat human body parts
28 Days Later infected: very much alive, and want to cause great violence to a person. Which can include biting, but only happens a couple of times in both films.

Sure they're similar, but the Borg from Star Trek share probably as many similarities with zombies, but no-one calls Star Trek: First Contact a zombie film.

Again, appologies, rant over.

And slow zombes FTW.

I prefer slow moving zombies, because their shear numbers make up for their speed. Also with fast zombies, if there's a horde of them you are 100% FUCKED.

No zombies. Really, I just can't find fun in killing zombies for some reason. I've done it too much.

why do you tempt me with the 3rd option?

still, i prefer the classical ones:easier to shoot, easier to outrun, have a 15% higher chance of survival in an invasion.

also it makes more sense since they're rotting and falling apart and all.

in rpg games, through, they suck BECAUSE they're so slow (here's looking at you, heroes of might and magic series)

I'd rather the slow zombies for a couple of reasons:

1) I am fat and slow. I wouldn't last 10 minutes in a fast-zombie apocalypse.
2) Slow zombies have their power in numbers. There would be nothing scarier in my eyes than a horde of slow zombies coming at me in every direction. One or two or five fast zombies are scary, for sure, but nothing beats a wave of slow ones.

The classic shamblers, like the ones described in The Zombie Survival Guide are definitely my favourites. While fast "infected" style zombies may have an edge in "jumpiness" fear, they don't have the same element of pyschological dread that the shamblers have. Certainly they may be slow and stupid, but they're hard to kill, and won't stop coming untill you do manage to kill them. They're almost like a horde of undead terminators.

Besides, I'd like to think I'd stand a chance of surviving the Zombie Apocalypse, but if it were fast zombies, I'd be screwed.

Fast zombies make for scarier situations. EG: Left 4 Dead, 28 Days Later

Slow, unrelenting zombies create a more coherent sense of tension and a brooding atmosphere. EG: Dead Space, Silent Hill etc

I'm gonna say slow zombies, for the effective atmosphere they create. See: Dead Space for how to do it right.

I like them for different reasons. Slow zombies because they are easier to kill, and fast zombies because they frighten me more.

Slow Zombies.

I don't really understand how a zombie can sprint ala "Dawn of the Dead"
but i guess you see no problem understanding the other attributes of zombies. such as their being dead and whatnot

After all. Everyone know that the "zombies" wich run isnt zombies. They are plain infected people. :3

Fast zombies are certainly more interesting in an action game. In a game that isn't action (RPG, Adventure, or something) then slow zombies might make more sense.

On the same token, it makes a difference what kind of movie it is for which is better. Since most people prefer action movies, or at least ones where there is a genuine threat, fast zombies are generally better. However, Shawn of the Dead has clearly shown that slow zombies have their place in movies, albeit best used in comedy.

Fast zombies. They're like a swarm of piranha fast and dangerous and therefor provide a better atmosphere if only loud noises attract them like a car alarm or gun shots.

There is a middle ground to be had. Even a heap of corpseflesh should be able to manage some semblance of at least a jogging pace. It would be the ultimate horde. They're slow enough to let you sprint away and let your guard down; and when you do, they will on top of you.
