I'm pretty sure if a fast zombie were chasing me, I'd piss myself. The slow one? Not so much. Creepy? Sure. I just wouldn't hide in a closet, because a slow zombie's creep factor gets bumped to the 'shit your pants' scary level as they methodically bang on the flimsy wooden door.

The infected zombie, or Zombie 2.0, is definitely a good upgrade from the religious based hell on earth risen from the dead scare your grandmother type.

I want my zombies like the zombies in the Morning Star Strain.

Essentiallf i you're infected, you convert to a living zombies, that can run, but you can die normmally. and if it isn't a head shot then you come back as a shambler.

slow zombies, zombie movies in my opinion at least should focus on the survivors and their interactions like the original dawn of the dead did. I like the whole 'other people pose more of a threat then the zombies' theme.

In like a mixture of the two, I think a zombie should be slow and simple to kill, but they should go into a crazed blood frenzy, and running faster and fighting better, but after a few minutes it will die down again. I also like the idea of zombies eating enough of the enemy to become massive bloated monstrosities (anyone seen a warhammer greater deamon of nurgle), or putting on massive amounts of muscle or growing massive spikes of bone and horn, depending on what they end up eating will effect the way they mutate.

Slow-moving zombies seems to always be in greater numbers. They also seems much more menacing, and when they're surrounding you, there's no escape.

Definitely slow zombies. They're much scarier when there's a hoard of them outside your building with a hive mind that's only focused on getting in and feasting.

Zombies aren't zombies if they can think, run or use weapons of any kind. Other than a chainsaw duct-taped to their hands.

I use the Zombie Survival Guide as a... guide when it comes to what a zombie is or isn't. That book is brilliant, and made zombies seem almost real.
Zombies are also more scary when slow. Yeah, a fast zombie can kill you faster, but the psychological terror of a vast shambling horde is so much more terrifying.
But that's just me.
I agree to everything you just said. Especially about Max Brooks's gem.

If you really think about it, slow zombies are kind of dumb. Slow zombies can be funny, but there almost never scary. There just too slow to actually pose a real threat. But fast zombies are scary. For one, there's actual chases, as opposed to inept main characters stumbling into the jaws of a slow zombie. There' a reason fast zombies are replacing slow zombies: They are better in every way, except for the few people who have rose-colored nostalgia glasses affixed firmly to there nose.

fast as long as it's not those bullshit "I can shootguns and drive cars but not twist a doorknob" zombies

Slow ones are scarier when they get closer to you and you are reloading or cant stop them, so I go for them

Slow. I do like fast zombies, but it's a bit cheap. Without their speed hindering them, they become almost invincible! Zombies are supposed to be EVERYWHERE, but really slow. However, I may be biased after playing Half-Life 2. I thought Ravenholm would be a nice detour involving zombies.

That's when a) fast zombies b) poison zombies and c) poison headcrabs were introduced. Oh God, when I finished that level I prayed that there would only be slow zombies from that point onward.

Although someone said they liked both as they provide different experiences. That sounds about right.

However, I prefer a third option: zombies run as fast as their decomposing body allows them to. A recently turned zombie should be fast. A zombie that's three weeks old should not be.

A tide of moving corpses ambling slowly but implacably toward you is a scary sight.

But an innumerable horde of clawing hands and biting teeth barrelling toward you faster than you can react is probably more scary.

I'm pretty sure they would be suffering rigamortis so slow and stiff/stumbling would make more sense.

Slow, at least then I have a chance, lol, although fast ones offer a challenge, who ever wants a challenge. I mean were already screwed don't make it harder, also its easier and funner to kill slow zombies, take your melee weapons to them and silence there screams.

Which movie is that screenshot from? I'm thinking either 28 days or weeks later, but as far as I recall those movies had different protagonists than this guy.

Edit: Also, I prefer slow zombies. The fast ones work better in that you don't have to have the characters in movies be rage inducingly retarded to be killed by them, but I don't like the hopelessness of being against fast zombies, so I prefer the slow ones.
