Well most "hour long" shows are 45 minutes. But if you're watching them on TV, the advert breaks flesh them out to an hour.

I take it the Advert Breaks for Dr Who are an abroad thing then? Here in Blightly the episodes tend to be uncut. Though I do see what your saying - so an episode of House (for example) isn't precisely 50 mins - 1 Hour long?
