exactly the problem with the nano-suit is it is flexible, an it will bend if it falls or gets knocked around by explosions or large pieces of shrapnel your bones will not, unfortunately i don't argue with it having the better mobility and choice of tactical role, in fact i believe i already stated as much the problem is whilst is is vastly superior to, it does not make you immune to infantry and that is kind-of the point of a super-suit in my opinion, why let your prey have any reasonable chance of hurting you?archont said:Sure, but if anything being in a gigantic heavy set of armor would only lessen your chances of survival. Surviving a fall is all about dissipating the energy over the longest time possible. The nanosuit is in this regard the best armor of all, consisting of synthetic muscle and not being very heavy.
The key would be the ratio of the strength of synthetic muscles/servos to the suit's weight. The higher it is, the higher your chances of surviving a long fall.
And sure, the nanosuit is vulnerable to small arms fire but if a suit of armor has enough armor to become fully invulnerable to it then it's still vulnerable to anti-tank weaponry and explosives while losing a lot of mobility.
You may say that, but consider this; the MJOLNIR armour from the Halo series can survive a fall from orbit, completely protecting its occupant from both the atmospheric friction of re-entry, and the, well, terminal velocity collision with the ground. The suit's energy field (powered by a built in fusion reactor) prevents the occupant from being cooked alive by the heat, and the hydrostatic gel sandwiched between the inner and outer layers of the suit dampens the shock of impact by varying its density, eventually becoming completely solid and 'locking up' the suit to prevent the occupant from breaking any limbs upon impact. This significantly reduces the amount of force the user is exposed to upon impact.archont said:Sure, but if anything being in a gigantic heavy set of armor would only lessen your chances of survival. Why would a nanosuit operator try to kill you if he can avoid you altogether? The Lugz said:based on what i see here, i think i'd pick the imperial power armour purely because if someone in a nano-suit tried to stealth-kill me he'd have a face full of hmg goodness or just be crushed like a bug i mean the damn thing has jaws of life for fingers for cryi'n out loud
the nano-suit cannot survive falls of more than about 2 floors unless you impact something to dampen the fall, cannot take punches to the face ( from normal people ) small arms fire and is eaten alive by sniper and hmg rounds and is crippled entirely by tazers because the electrical impulses that control it constrict the microfibres and crush the occupier
all of those examples are cannon in the games so-far
i do not see this as a stable weapons platform
sure, a nano-suit operator can sneak past you if you are not paying attention but to what end?
killing someone in their sleep when they take off their armour is hardly an indication that you have the better equipment
that's just following the art of war mantra of the only way to win the fight is to avoid it

stange because im going back to the roots of halo; trying to get my copy of combat evolved working again. oh how i love the overpowered pistol.inFAMOUSCowZ said:MJOLNIR armor for me. Though N7 come pretty damn close, I just have that Halo fanboy in me, excuse me I'm back to Halo 3 (not reach)
It can turn invisible, if you have the right armour ability equipped, and the strength and armour stuff come built-in. And though this isn't really demonstrated in the games, it can certainly manage speed as well; the Chief's highest known speed is 50MPH, though he did strain a few muscles getting there.Henkie36 said:Nano suit. I'm all for practical and the Nano suit is nothing if not practical. Why is the HEV suit orange? isn't that like painting a giant bullseye on your back? Same is true for Samus, the other ones are too big and bulky, the only one which also makes sense is the Halo-suit, but that doesn't turn invisible.
