I had a really long and elaborate explanation as to why I don't post most of the things I write, but then I thought it wouldn't add anything to the discussion so I didn't post it.

But in all seriousness, yes I don't post what I write a lot.

I have, but only when replying to someone horrendously stupid. Then I write the angriest post ever, and then delete it. I feel better, and don't get suspended for yelling at someone.

Yes, all the time. You wouldn't believe how many threads I do this for.

Once in awhile, I think better of what I have to post. Usually either because I decided I had nothing useful to contribute or realized that the person I'm replying to is so overwhelmingly bad at reading that I'd rather stop being involved at all.

All the time, most of the time because can't put my thoughts on words, sometimes because I'm unsure about my english and other times because even when I have something to say I feel I don't have enough arguments to back it up and others would tear me apart with their arguments.

This essentially sums it up. One post in a sea of thousands (well, dozens) gets lost easily, and unless you've quoted someone, the chances of your post getting noticed are minimal unless you quote or are on the first page.

This is why, insightful as some of my posts may be (or I like to pretend they are, at any rate), they rarely get posted. If someone else has said something remotely similar, I tend to avoid posting in a thread at all. Poll threads are the worst for this.

I do it now and again, simply because I can't get the wording right for what I want to say, or I realise my opinion is just too blase for it to matter.
Pretty much this. Sometimes I don't post simply because my opinion has been already been voiced, like this thread for example.

Yes, with annoying regularity. Most of the time I do this I end up writing the first half of the message, then doing something else (or get side tracked somehow), when I get back to it I've either lost my train of thought or I don't believe it's that important anyhow. I still think that's influenced by how people will read the message & reply, I've no problem with a discussion, but I can't be arsed with fools and just simply leave threads where I know I can post something relevant, but choose not bother when I find that somebody will surely quote me and start a fucking awful rant regarding some obscure and off topic point.

TLDR; my low post count.

I do it quite often. Mainly because...

A) People have already said what I wanted to say. Seriously, it's hard to respond to a thread when someone did it for you. :p
B) It might be offensive. I haven't got into mod trouble, yet, and I don't plan on it in the near future.
C) I can't fully put out my thoughts in the way I want them to.

All the time. It's mostly because I read what I had typed and think that it will get me in trouble... I can't tell you how many times I've had something terrible written to someone but then look back and realize that saying it wouldn't get anyone anywhere. I also stay out of the Religion & Politics section because I would lose it if I spend more than 2 minutes there.

Two words:

MARCH MAYHEM

You start to rebuttal against idiots that think they can do what they want, but then you realize you will not be brought down to their level

Yes. Sometimes I just can't be bothered. Sometimes I think it's too cliché. Others I don't post after thinking that it will create far too much controversy. And another reason that has been mentioned above: Sometimes I can't figure out how best to get my point across and end up scrapping the whole thing.

Yes, but not often.

Most of the time if I don't, it's because I realize I'd be doing nothing but trolling with my reply, so I just delete it since I can't add anything constructive with the negative response I have typed out. If I can at least make good point while being negative, I'll still post it though.

I do that. I actually have a couple of Notepad documents on my desktop full of replies to idiots and arguments that I've decided not to post.

I can spend quite a while writing a post, then I have my doubts, copy it into a document and think about posting it later, if I have the energy for the confrontation or can be bothered continuing a pointless argument just to be right... but luckily that time never comes and I just let it be.

It is therapeutic to construct the reply and get it written down, but it's also healthier not to post it in the end (and to sleep soundly that night knowing that you didn't just win the theoretical argument, you won the moral one too!).

Hypothetically, if I ever decided to commit Forum Suicide, I'd just create a thread and copy & paste the entire contents of these Black Notepad Documents into the opening post, which would probably send out about 100 new message alerts to quoted people and baffle them with years old arguments & put downs.

Well it certainly appears that I am not the only one that does it. This proves an interesting point that a lot of times people will begin writing before they put a lot of thought into what they are writing and why. The ideas may be developed, but the mental leap into the why hasn't been made yet.
