I got a little curious today so I did some research about unlucky Fridays, the idea of Friday being unlucky mainly comes from religion;
Friday was the day Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden
Friday was the day of the great flood
It was a Friday when the Temple of Solomon destroyed
Christ was killed on a Friday (hence good Friday)
Friday also used to be executioners day in Roman times and carried over to hangmans day in Britain
Christianity also tried to convince the world that Friday was a bad day as it is the day of pagan sabbat
It is also Freydas day, the Godess of love and fertility (also know as Frigg or if you go back to the Roman era Venus)
Well that?s Fridays but what about the number 13;
A witches Coven should always consist of 13 members
Legend has it that if 13 people sit down to dinner then they shall all die within a year
If you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil's luck (Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, Theodore Bundy and Albert De Salvo all have 13 letters in their names
The Chinese however consider the number 13 lucky
The ancient Egyptians believed the number 13 therefore symbolized death ? not in terms of dust and decay, but as a glorious and desirable transformation. Though Egyptian civilization perished, the symbolism conferred on the number 13 by its priesthood survived, only to be corrupted by subsequent cultures who came to associate 13 with a fear of death instead of a reverence for the afterlife.
So unlucky Friday + Unlucky 13 = a really bad day
Friday the 13th was also when King Phillip of France betrayed the Templars
***This lot was re-written from a fair few places on line and I tried to cross check as much as I could but I love a good debate if anybody wants to query any of it***
