It's the same thing with Anime. Anime suffers from the same issues as well (Woot repeating myself :D) You have the anime fans, and the shoved down your throat (Usually gay, just like it's furry equivelant) "Art" and Fanfics that rape your love for said subject, or just turn off what little slight of "I give a shit" you had. I mean, I love when I type in anime, and get a picture of a nude girl who looks 8 years old, but the creator SWEARS shes 20 >.<
Oh, I'm solidly with Movie Bob on the subject of Anime, no offense. I mean, I'll grant there may be good art there someplace, but I haven't seen it, and I really don't care that much, and every time I've seen someone cite something in western culture that was supposedly ripping off an Anime, there's always been a previous western example they were ignorant of. What I find is people who devote themselves to Anime seem to believe they really have a comprehensive understanding of everything animation, or film, or entertainment, and they have serious, glaring wholes in their understanding.

Ya know, what I don't get is why everyone is going "Yiff in hell" and sort a like comments. Sure I admit, the fandom does have it's adult side but then again, so does the anime fandom. And apparently people get worked up over something that is different. Of course it's a natural reaction of humanity (myself included. I might be a furry but I am from the human race none the less) to kill or remove things that are different.

Now I really don't see why we need to die, burn in a fire or go to hell. Not like we're different then everyone, okay so people like some fur on them but hey, there are also people who get off on leather. I don't see lynch mobs for those type of people?

So basically, we're just normal people who just have an interrest (does not have to be a sexual interrest) in anthromorophical animals or wish they could be one. Some display this in a suit while others draw pictures, and I really want to make it clear it's not a fandom around a sexual object or fetish. But as rule #(how many?) says: 'If you thought of it, there is sex with it'.

Thanks for reading the wall of text, hope you became a little wiser from it and put down the torches, we're not mutations or deviations of nature. Thank you.

You got the wrong version, I can't be bothered to actually go searching for the version that is correct so I re-created it in a few seconds

All this is made somewhat ironic by the fact that my Avatar is actually an anthropomorphic Olm [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olm] or Olmman, and although I'm not actually a furry I do have some artwork in my sizeable porn collection. (Then again when it comes to porn I'll try anything except scat or guro at least once)

Exactly my point... Sadly it is Idiots who are the loudest, and get the most attention.

I know a few furries, and occasionally visit clean and unclean furry sites, because some, SOME of them have a style that I really like.

The reason I like anthropomorphic animals though stems from my interest in mythical beasts. Minotaurs, werewolves (and other lycanthropes), ogres and the like. Specifically, I am attracted to the idea of primal strength and unbridled ferocity. The theme of "Nature's Wrath" seems exceptionally prevalent in some furry art, and by Balinor's grace I love it.

That having been said, I do get pissed off when members of the furry fandom wax on about being "fursecuted" and try to pass off their sexual deviancy as a lifestyle. But I feel that way about any group of people who behave the same way, such as gays, transgenders, necrophiliacs, NAMBLA, etc...

On the other side of that coin, though, I also get mighty pissed off at detractors of the subculture who claim that it's a bunch of hyper-sexual deviants engaging in truly abominable practices, or just a bunch of freaks in mascot uniforms humping each other. But I feel that way about detractors of any group of people who use over-exaggerated assumptions as an excuse.

And even if the current furry subculture on the internet got its start from rule 34 of Disney's Robin Hood or Sonic the Hedgehog, it's certainly evolved past that point and become a true subculture distinct from the fetish that spawned it. If anything, it currently resembles a cross between therianthropy and the aforementioned rule 34, with most members probably falling right square in the middle.

My opinion on the fetish itself is simple: it doesn't contain any of the things I am repulsed by, and isn't bothersome to others. Which means it's totally fine by me.

Aren't furries just another flavour of geek/nerd?

Which of course makes all the flaming of them rather pathetic since the flamers in question are visitors on a messageboard intended for video game nerds.

It's like with some nerds who can play table top RPG's and Warhammer, but as soon as they hear anything of LARP, they go into berserk mode and the derogatory comments starts to fly.

Seriously, you are a fucking nerd yourself! We're all nerds and geeks here of some sort, haven't you been put through enough prejudice and flak coming from the so called "normal people" already? Why stoop to their level?

If you can have an open mind towards video games, animé, roleplaying games, collectible card games, manga etc. etc. then you're already pretty far deep into geekdom. Which means you have officialy relinquished your "rights" to belittle any other geek or nerd no matter what sort of flavour the might come in...

Indeed. Though, I'll admit the Dragonball Z redux videos had me in stitches. "Vegeta, what does the scouter say about his powerlevel?" "It's 1006, go kick his ass, Napa." "Oh, I had it on upsidedown, it's over nine thousand."

I don't mind furry, some of it is really cute. but then you get a bunch of weird porn ones.

Not weird as in weird to nonfurries. Weird as in "that is physically impossible no matter what you say" kind of weird.

But if you want to show me a picture of a foxboy and wolfboy cuddling under a tree i'll be just as *daww* as if they were regular people.

Well yeah, people do need to get out of the socalled 'victim role' and live life. Granted that everyone just leaves them alone (or ignore them is fine as well same effect.)and not hunt them down, beat em up, convict or even murder them for what they are. Down to the core we're all human. Wether you're a furry, gay or whatever group of people you fall under. Humanity = humanity. It comes down to a little tollerance and respect really and on that note, the 'leave me alone and I leave you alone' rule would work out just fine if people would stop beeing so agressive all the time.

Since the furry fandom is comprised of many varied and *ahem* colourful individuals you could equally describe them as liberated and loving or bigoted and scary. Hard to boil it down, but best if those who are remain unrepentant, and those who are not remain skeptical. :D

Another flavour of geek/nerd? Hmmm interresting well yeah in principle everyone is a geek/nerd on a subject. Be it furry, games, job or any other catagory. In that point of view you're right. Still no reason to convict people for what they think / are.

Seriously, you are a fucking nerd yourself! We're all nerds and geeks here of some sort, haven't you been put through enough prejudice and flak coming from the so called "normal people" already? Why stoop to their level?
Well Im not sure if this is aimed at me, but I am assuming it is. I don't see a reason why you are yelling at me like this, I clearly did not do anything to light a fuse. I just merely tried to explain certain points of view on a subject. I do not convict 'normal people' cause I am a normal person as well. Even though I have a strong affiniation for wolves. So what? I'm not stooping to anyone's level.

If you can have an open mind towards video games, animé, roleplaying games, collectible card games, manga etc. etc. then you're already pretty far deep into geekdom. Seems you're bashing on me now for some reason. I have an open mind about alot of things, I don't mind stuff cause if I see it and do not approve or whatever I just look away. And really where does this 'relinqiushed my rights' come from? Im not bashing on anyone. I just ask for some respect and a little decency from people.

I don't care who's a furry or not, I just think it's wierd. But not like "I'm not one of those furries who dresses up and yiffs *Shudder*" or "Oh I only like the artwork" I don't mind those I just think the costumes and the more...sad erotic pictures and the sex in costume and cross-species is just extremely gross. My opinion! My opinion. But I don't set out to murder every one of ya, but if a furry was talking to me I'd prefer if they kept it to themselves (But I'm sure the less hardcore like "Oh I'm just into the artwork etc" would keep it to themselves anyway).

Pardon me but what's rule 34?
